Why does it appear as if there is a gap at the bottom of the bedside where it meets the floor of the bed?

The spray in bed liner took care of that on my truck.

One more thing, in 88/89 Tacoma beds, Toyota used caulk to fill the gap around the inner bed. The caulk kept moisture in the gap and the bed started rusting around the spot welds and within three year they all rusted out. It cost them a fortune to replace those beds.
