Hallo. Our '22 Maverick hybrid has about 40,00mi on it. Suddenly it wouldn't start, and we discovered that the 12 volt battery was down to 3 volts. Couldn't even put it in neutral, so couldn't move it to jump it. Called AAA (first time in over 20 years), and they quick charged it. Next day, back to 3 volts! So, today we brought it to Ford and they put in a new battery. Then tonight we saw the bed lights come on while the truck was off and parked in our driveway with no key in use! They went out and came on again. Hmmm. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Are you referring to the cargo lights up on the top of the cab, or lights installed inside the bed?

@XLTLUXRED ,

Is there any chance that you accidentally hit the unlock button? The cargo lights come on when you unlock the doors. Maybe the button was pushed while the fob was in your pocket.

I can't help w/ the bed light coming on. But something you should consider getting is a jump box. Very useful for starting your or someone else's vehicle, w/o trying to line up two cars & jumper cables. I've owned one since before I had my Maverick.

Plus, the jump box will let you put the truck in Neutral, if you ever end up with a dead battery and need to move/tow it.

On the Hybrid, connect the jump box to the Jump points under the hood, driver's side. The user manual will show you where they are. NOCOs are popular on MTC. I have the cheapest one and I've used it to jump a buddy's v8 Lincoln in the dead o' winter, with no problem. Store it under the back seat. Check/top off the charge once a year or after each use.

Thanks folks!! I asked my DH, and he said it was the lights at the top of the cab, in back. There is a chance he hit the fob without realising it, but not sure. We'll keep an eye on that.

As for the charger, we're on it. Were already planning to get a quality, portable charger for the 12 volt battery. Trying t decide between the TowerTop, Wolfbox and NOCO Pro. Any recommendations?

Well, the saga continues. Got a new 12V battery on March 5th and on the 19th we had a dead battery again. Jumped it with our boat battery and it's at Ford tonight. So we'll see if it's a bad connection or what.

That's unfortunate to hear! Yeah, I wonder if you maybe have a bad ground somewhere. Maybe some wires chafing somewhere that shouldn't be. My bet is there is some drain somewhere. Hopefully they can get it figured out!
