I was getting ready to replace my lead acid battery, when I pushed lightly on the vent tube where it connects to the battery, and the doggone thing just snapped off! Since then I've been trying to get a replacement, which is very hard to come by. Ordered from several places, and finally got notice that one will be coming tomorrow. So here's the question... Has anyone replaced one of these, from the attachment to the floor of the passenger compartment? Does the old one come out of the floor easily? Is there a special tool or technique needed? I've been a little worried to drive my truck, with that piece broken off. Would really like to get the new one in, and the new battery in place tomorrow...

You can buy a piece of tubing from a hardware store and in line coupler.
had similar issue with a motorcycle battery

I was able to repair a similar issue with heat shrink tubing to repair the broken off piece. Eventually I found the part in stock but haven't had time to install it yet, so I'll be watching this thread and hoping someone with experience replies.

OK, well, I got the replacement via Fedex today. (Corwin Ford TriCities for the win! I ordered from them just 2 days ago, when everybody else was just saying it was "in process", for 4 days.) And since I had already taken apart the battery surround when I was getting ready to pull the older battery and put in a new AGM, this was actually pretty easy (removing the plastic trays that go around it wasn't as easy, but that's beside the point). I pulled out the lead acid battery, then it was easy to see the place where the tube went through the floor. I pulled on the tube and with a little force the tube came out, but left the rubber grommet in place. I thought "OK. I'll just pull the grommet off the new part and push the new tube into the old grommet", but the plastic end that stiffens the rubber tube had a different tip, so I grabbed pliers and pulled on the grommet, and it slid right out! So I pushed in the new grommet/tube, then put in the new AGM battery. I hooked up the vent, then connected the battery cables, and pushed the plastic trim pieces back in place (only slightly easier than the removal). Then did the ABM reset per the manual, and I have a fully functional truck again. I ordered the tube from 3 different places online, and only the last one was quick to act, with 2 day delivery. So even though I cancelled the order from the place that said it was still "in process", I'm going to keep the extra part that has a shipping notice... Just in case.

There was nothing left of the original tip to shrink wrap something to. the tip broke off inside the vent connection. I did a temporary work around of putting Goop on the outside of a piece of wiring insulation, and pushed that inside the tubing port, and the other end inside the battery vent hole, but that wiring insulation hole was about half the size of what it was intended to be, so I wasn't sure it was adequate for the job. As a result I drove to town just once with that in place, and left the back seat up, and the battery compartment open, and opened the windows a crack for air flow... Yes, I'm a worrier...

If I remember , VW Beetles , back in the day had their batteries under the back seat , no vent tube ....no explosions ....no poisoning ....
A pain in the butt to jumpstart though .

The old VW's had the battery under the back seat . No vent tube ...no explosions ...no poisoning ....well .....the gas fumes from the front gas tank could poison you , and also the burning oil and exhaust fumes with the heater on didn't help any ......😆
