Does anyone know what the life expectancy is for the batteries? I recently saw a quote of $28,000 to replace a battery. Are the batteries really that expensive? This issue wasn’t on my radar when I bought the truck.

The battery life of the High Voltage System should be the least of your worries. 20 years/200k miles should be easy. The battery management system (BMS) in the Maverick is over-agressive in managing the battery. It keeps the battery in the range of 30% to 60% (70%?) at all times in order to not under or overcharge. The batteries actually have twice as much "usable" as the Maverick actually uses. Zero stress on the batteries means they should last a really, really long time (but it also means we are loosing out on some potential fuel economy and battery range).

As for the 12V under-seat battery, that is a different matter. Just for "fun", I have been checking and recording battery voltage 2+ times a day for the last 2 weeks just to figure out what is going on. Between the combination of a poor quality factory battery and there being huge random power drains even when the Maverick is off, I would not expect to get 2 years out of the factory 12V battery. Luckily, that one is only $250.

You are referencing a full EV car battery that some have seen from a GM car dealership quote. Much, much higher than any found in a Maverick, either the under the truck large battery, and certainly not the case with the standard underseat battery that you can replace yourself using a parts store replacement. I did the latter myself recently after the first two Motorcraft batteries there were admittedly (by Ford) defective and the third was used up.

Excluding an initially defective HV battery, the ICE or some other expensive part will likely quit before the Hybrid HV battery fails. Same for the eCVT. And the truck comes with an 8-year, 100k warranty on the Hybrid system.

Were in the hell did you read this FUD?

Seriously?
$28k for what battery - a Tesla's? Did you buy a Tesla?
I've also seen quotes for $20k brake jobs on a Ferrari. Luckily (?) that doesn't apply to me and definitely not to a hybrid Maverick.

Short internet search yielded: about $2000 for the battery and around $250 labor to install.

Should be closer to 2-2.5k range.
