Hey everyone, looking for advice on how to proceed, especially from those with mechanical experience.I 'll do my best to be brief and concise but it's not my forte.
Brought my '23 in at 32k miles for what I now see is a common failure of the CV axles. Got the truck back and it didn't feel or sound right. After a day or 2 (and 300 miles) my truck was making terrible noises sounding like an old dirt bike. Saw an under panel not fastened properly which made me suspicious that other maintenance wasn't done to standard. Brought it back, stated the felt vibration and heard noises. They returned it after only reinstalling panel and upon leaving the dealership, the loud obvious noise was still there. Turned around and gave it back immediately. Was told after inspection that the axle nut wasn't properly torqued and has now been tightened and ready for pickup.
Driving home something still felt off but thought I was being paranoid. After continuing to drive I could hear noises of warping in addition to what I can only describe as "excessive road noise." So 10 days (700 miles) later gave it back. This time was told a wheel bearing was warped and was subsequently replaced. At this point I questioned the integrity of the new axle and associated components. Driving it home again heard the same excessive road noise but again was worried it was paranoia.
About 3 weeks (1500 miles) later I brought it back because I was convinced the noise wasn't normal and was now hearing creeking and groaning when turning my steering at a standstill and noises when the body rolled coming to a stop. Told the dealership to start the repair over from the beginning and wanted any/every suspected component replaced that could have been damaged from driving the vehicle without the axle nut being torqued. Just picked it up today after they found the hub bearing worn and having play. Also saw the axle nut was now seized and subsequently had damaged threads. Those components were replaced. Driving home I'm still hearing, although less noisy, a creeking and groaning when turning the wheel, coming to a stop and slowly letting off the brake to start moving again.
All of that leads to:
1) does anyone else having similar noises when turning the wheel on a vehicle with 34k on it?
2) what should I be concerned was damaged by driving with a loose axle?
