Backup Beeper

If this has been brought up before, forgive me!

I love my Maverick XL Hybrid, I got 11000 mi on her but why in the hell did they put the backup beeper up front? People walking behind can’t hear it!!

It's a replacement for the engine noise not produced by an EV or a hybrid with the engine off. So pedestrians can tell there's a running vehicle nearby that could be moving at any time.

It's not the backup alert you'd hear on a dump truck.

Doesn't belong there because there's no such thing.

I'm not sure why, but it is the same on our KIA Niro.
Beeper in the front only sounds when in R.

Our RAV4 Hybrid has the back-up notification on the front of the vehicle, too. Bean counters.

Backing out of the garage, the sound is ridiculously loud.

It's not a backup beeper. It's a pedestrian warning device. Blind people can't see a car approach, and very hard for them to hear an EV/hybrid without it.
