I got my recall letter regarding my 2024 XL hybrid back up camera a few weeks ago. My understanding was Ford will send another letter once a fix is out.
Read a few posts here also saying fix will be first quarter of 2025

Bored at work today and decided to give my local Ford service a call.
Service advisor said "let me call my parts department, parts are usually 2 days out"

I asked " so it wont be a software update for the fix?"

He said "nope, it will be a camera replacement...give me a few minutes, let me get a hold of my parts department and I'll call you once I have a part ETA"

:unsure::coffee::inspect:

UPDATE: I called him after a few hours and was told you are correct, still advance notice:cwl:

Not sure why he said there's a part and fix for it when I called this morning

Hmmmm

I just checked OASIS. This recall is still in "advanced notice" status. Ford has not released full bulletin to dealers detailing what the repair will be yet.....

Either your dealership has access to info Ford hasn't released to other dealerships yet... or they are confusing with a different camera recall..... or they don't know what they are talking about!!

Hopefully they won't try to install an Explorer camera in it!

I haven't had the camera problem and seldom use it anyway, except to do a last second glance when parallel parking. But a recall that takes this long to start notifying customers to come in for a fix, seems to usually involve hardware replacement. And they can't notify customers to come in until the hardware is available in sufficient quantities to do the recall for everyone.

Problem has been around for several years.

yup my Ford confidence is not up there. This is my first Ford. My last 3 trucks were all Tacomas but I wasnt happy with my gas mileage.

My co worker just got her Ford EcoSport back from the Ford Service dept. They replaced her engine for a pretty big recall.....

not even a week later, back to the dealer for rough shifting and engine light:facepalm:

Not to hijack the thread but since you have access to Oasis do you see anything regarding CV axles for 22-24s and able to see if it's true that updated parts have been released ?

No TSB or SSM on OASIS for that issue that I can see.

I checked parts catalog for my 22 Maveric hybird. There is a part # change for the Right side CV axle (NZ6Z-3B436-C to NZ6Z-3B436-F), but not for the left side (still NZ6Z-3B437-B).

I had them replaced (with the old Right side C #) in February 2024 @ 23500 miles. I'm at 36500 now, with no more issues. But I wouldn't be surprised if they fail again ~50K miles.

But I'll have my 25 AWD hybrid before then.

For 25 Mavericks, there is a part number change for FWD hybrids SZ6Z-3ZB436-B & SZ6Z-3ZB437-A.

And for 25 AWD hybrids: SZ6Z-3ZB436-A & SZ6Z-3ZB437-A.

I have been keeping track of "when I DO use" the camera..
Only backing out of my garage (alley) or at work for a split-second (everyone in hurry to leave... 🤣 ).

If this is truely a Camera issue... I will be one of the last to take it in... Give YOU FOLKS a chance to get yours Fixed..

I'm not thinking that this recall will involved camera replacement. I checked part #s for my 22 XLT vs 24 Lariat. Same exact camera and image processing module from the factory.

Lariats are not involved in this recall. It seems to have to do with the memory/processing power of the APIM rather than the camera. The dumbed down XL and XLT version of sync has issues.

To save money.....I assume Ford will try to fix it w/ a software update. APIM replacement would likely be quite expensive?

Unless they'd use a different camera/image processing module that would work better with the weaker APIM that XLs and XLTs have?

I think that there will be a software update first. Then, they will find that that doesn't work. And then there will be a new recall that involves part replacement (or maybe they will offer "extended coverage" on APIM after software update). That's what I think will happen, but we'll see!

What do you think of this invoice from one of the CV axle posts ? It shows the SZ parts going on a 23 maverick ?

Ahhhh

The replacement didn't show in the parts catalog...but I looked in DOW (parts ordering tool) and NZ6Z-3B436-F is superseded by SZ6Z-3B436-E and NZ6Z-3B437-B has been replaced by SZ6Z-3B437-C.

So info in parts catalog wasn't updated yet...but if you ordered the old #, but would probably automatically reorder the new number for you.

The S in the part number indicates 2025 MY. Just like the N in NZ6Z shows that the part was originally designed for 22 MY.

There are still additional changes for 25 MY Mavericks, but the new designs for 22-24 Mavericks must be related to the updates made for 25 Mavericks? It is sometimes hard to find the "logic" behind the part #s.

I wonder what hoops Ford will have to jump through to satisfy NHTSA's requirements in order to lift the No Sell Hold on thousands new 2024 xl and XLT
Sitting in storage lots just getting old.
