What is the usefulness of the back portion of the door cubby? I understand we can use the front cutouts for bottles and other related items, but the rear pocket inside the door cubby is difficult to access. Any thoughts or ideas what to use this for?

and wanted to know what you do with this odd shaped space.
For a part of the truck that was hyped for it's design (armrest cutout for water bottles, etc.) I haven't been able to fit any of my water bottles or really anything useful in the door storage. There are weird sized notches and bump-outs that make my things not fit right and fall out when I open/close the door.
Yeah maybe I can shove some plastic bags into the area you're referring to, but I'd be just as happy if the area was closed off.

Maybe not something for city folk but if you're working in the back country I find these hidden spaces are great for storing ammunition behind the water bottles. Just the right size.
