I just replaced my previous 2025 XL because it was totalled. The audio was fantastic on that unit. I was shocked how good it sounded for the base model.

On the new 2025 XLT which I now have (which should have exact same stereo setup), the audio is noticeably worse. I have made 100% sure the EQ and every setting is exactly how I had the other one. No matter what I do, it has this harsh, tinny, hollow sound especially in the mid tonal ranges.

I’m pretty aware of audio sound and quality. I’m 100% I’m not overlooking anything. My only question is how this is possible. I’m guessing there must be variance in suppliers and companies who provide the head units and they must use different hardware or maybe set up the EQ modeling differently at each plant,

I’m just so disappointed knowing that I have to tolerate several years of a seemingly defective or lower quality unit especially when my first one was SO SMOOTH AND PERFECT.

UGH! 😩

Does it sound bad regardless of what input is used?

Tried all methods of input: wired, WiFi, Bluetooth, and radio. All sounds the same. It’s just very thin, tinny, and hollow is the mid frequencies. It’s very noticeable and, like I said, it’s way different than my previous Mac which in theory should sound the same.

Sigh. Maybe I just got really lucky on my last one because it sounded so good. Very full, very warm, and still clear. I’m so pissed at the guy who rear ended me. Damnit.

I know you said all the settings were the same, but the only thing I could think of that would cause that is the (ā€œBalance and Fadeā€ try Mid-Rear) and (ā€œSound Modeā€œ to Surround).

I guess the good news is that the system is pretty easily upgraded.

Though it does suck to have to go through extra effort/expense if you were perfectly happy with the previous setup.
