Apple CarPlay navigation on display screen?

I was always under the impression that we could not view in Apple Maps app on the information screen on our trucks. Evidently I was misguided as a fellow maverick owner and shown me his map visible on the screen .

Yes, you can use CarPlay for navigation just fine.

What would be the point of Apple CarPlay if you couldn't view it on your screen?

Not all Apple Iphone/Ipad apps work on CarPlay but more and more app developers are making their product available, like GALA-GPS is not available now. CarPlay is my favorite feature on the Maverick. As far as music, I find a Flash Drive is more effective than playing music from my IPhone.

I have used Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze, all for different reasons, and all showed on the stereo.

Apple Maps gives better turn/warning in an unfamiliar city. Google tends to be better with traffic / detours, and Waze when I was out of State and PA can be brutal on writing tickets even at only 5 mph over, so trying to avoid a ticket.

I have used car play in my 2023 Eco Boost Maverick but I also have the on board Navigation so I don’t use it much.

He's talking about it showing on the 6.5" gauge cluster screen, not the 8" center console screen.

Speaking of Apple Maps on CarPlay and at the risk of being slightly off topic, I wish the map app developers would incorporate knowledge that I'm using either a high occupancy vehicle lane or paid commuter lane (FastTrak here in CA). Often, the commuter lane uses its own transition road to another freeway route, but my map keeps telling me to use the exit for the normal traffic. Example: my commuter lane exits to the left to merge onto another highway, but maps keeps telling me to keep to the right lanes to transition to same highway. We have the technology, no?

Nope. This thread is a year old, and OP had a setting on their phone that was preventing CarPlay from working normally, on the center screen. It was resolved two posts above yours.
