In my 2024 XL a lot of times when I plug in my iphone Apple Car Play does not start. I've tried plugging in my phone before I start the truck and also after I start it. It is annoying when I am in a hurry and it won't come up. But then sometimes I can drive for awhile and then it will start. Any suggestions?

It happens to me too. I tap the phone to wake it up and it connects.

It’s works for me about 70% of the time, when it doesn’t I have to open my iPhone manually.

It happens all the time on my 22 xl. Sometimes I have to turn truck off and back on. Tried taking it to dealer but gave up..just like I gave up on trying to fix the truck bucking/hesitating at low speeds. Dealer service just isn’t equipped to deal with issues that aren’t obvious. Maverick owners just learn to deal with nagging problems that Ford doesn’t care to fix.

My Mav is my 5th Ford with either Sync 3 or Sync 4. This has happened on every vehicle. It’s is something in how Sync interacts with CarPlay and Ford is either unaware of the issue, or doesn’t know how to fix it. It’s hard to believe they aren’t aware of it, so I’m guessing they don’t know how to fix it.

Since the problem occurs with both versions of Sync, I’m guessing it is in some basic part of the software, and should be a relatively easy to find and fix, but I’m not a software engineer.

Regardless of the phone, whether Android or IOS, unlocking it before you get in the truck will usually eliminate intermittent issues like this.

I unplug the USB connector for a few seconds and then plug it back in. Works every time.
