Checking on my 23 order and noticed a "315" price level. Anyone know what this is? Hopefully standard MSRP.

That is the starting point for the 23 Mav (it is something Ford controls, not the dealer). If the prices increase during the year, Ford will mark that by changing the pricing level #.

The price level is incremented every time the factory pricing (invoice and MSRP) changes. The price list includes both of those numbers.

When they increase prices at the factory, invoice & MSRP will go up and the PL will go to 320 or 325.

Is it safe to assume the increases do not come into play if the order is price-protected?

The dealer invoice and window sticker are printed with the price level in effect when the order is sent to the factory ~1 week before production.

So long as Ford continues to offer price protection, then the dealer is billed the higher invoice price. When Ford verifies they sold the vehicle to the customer who ordered it (you) or someone at the same address, they will credit the difference back to the original price level.

Note that price protection is for the dealer, not you. The way it's supposed to work is that you and the dealer agree in writing to a price to buy the vehicle when you order it. That's based on the original invoice and MSRP price, so when the dealer sells you the vehicle for your originally agreed upon price, Ford refunds them the price increases.

Price protection is for the dealer, not you. You need to have a $ amount in writing that they agree to sell it for. Not a reference to MSRP. That $ amount could be the same as MSRP (often is these days), but you need the exact # in writing. That's all you should need to worry about.

Awesome info, thanks.

The GM and I have a written agreement that I will pay the X-Plan price at time of order.

AXZD-Plan is a bit of an exception, so long as the dealer agrees to participate. The reason being that those prices are based on invoice price paid by the dealer. With price protection, the dealer pays the lower invoice price, so that's what your X-Plan price is based on.

That said, on Plan sales, Ford allows the dealer to charge you the higher price and then provide you the difference by check when they receive the credit from Ford.

My dealer charged me the original A-Plan (employee/family) price while my brother's charged him the higher price and sent him a check several weeks later. Both were this summer.
