anyone have a front hitch on their Maverick?

I'm no engineer, but I'm assuming the tow hook attachment is designed more for forward load rather than a downward load that a heavy winch would create. I don't have tow hooks on my hybrid, so I'm speaking off the cuff.

Not only are the loads going to be forward rather than upward or downward,, but pulling a vehicle on a paved road requires almost no force. A preteen could probably push a Maverick in neutral on a flat road. Whereas off road recovery can result in momentary shock loads of several thousand pounds, especially if you need to break suction on sand or mud.
