In the NW Ark. Ozarks, we average probably just under a foot of snow per year. Sometimes that comes all at once though. As for ice, we are very familiar with that. It's not something I will drive in, regardless of the vehicle - AWD, 4WD, whatever. I really don't care to slide off a cliff!Winter in Arkansas? What is that like? A couple inches per year?
Your "bad" winter is a summer in Montana. Ground clearance and things like 4WD/AWD make all the difference. Anywhere that needs regular plowing each winter and develops ice on daily driven roads - snow tires or studded. Anything else is just pressing your luck regardless of which wheels are in control. It doesn't matter what tires you have when it's icy. If they are not made to drive on ice, slow WAY down or stay off the road.
