Since 2022, my immediate family has purchased five new Fords from two dealerships.

All three purchases from a local (southern California) dealer were Retail Orders and took just over an hour. I suspect it takes longer to go through all of the California bureaucracy.

The two purchases from Long McArthur (@fordvideoguy) were "off the lot" after customers declined their Retail orders and took less than an hour. Unfortunately, the second transaction had a pair of issues (they didn't install the spray-in bedliner I requested and misplaced one of the keys). However, they exceeded my expectations in resolving both issues.

Not a problem, really, but this affected me a little this week. I went in for an oil change and three recalls. Got it all done. Paid with FordPass points - but they couldn't actually charge the points or give me a proper invoice or receipt, because their system was down. They have a growing stack of paperwork to file if it ever comes up again, more than a week of work waiting to be input.

I just hope they get it all put in correctly if/when this ever gets fixed. Meanwhile, the Ford Pass app still thinks I need the recalls done. It can clearly talk to my truck to lock/unlock doors and find its location and tire pressure, but it can't tell the recalls were completed.

My large Canadian dealer put the wrong oil in my Hybrid while they did the 24S27 recall. They put in 5W20 blend oil instead of the mandatory 0W20 Synthetic oil. I guess that they can't read the 710 cap. There is no 5W20 synthetic oil, so they just used whatever the EcoBoost blend oil was. Then the service rep argued that there was some memo from Ford stating that 5W blend oil was ok in a Hybrid, but then couldn't show it to me. I had them change it to the correct 0W oil. The difference in mileage when using the specified oil is a lot - about 1L/100km, or 8 mpg in U.S. gallons better than the thicker dyno oil. The difference in engine life with all the cold starts that a hybrid does is probably considerable as well, especially in sub-zero temperatures.
