So I'm trying to figure out this dash noise and I think I've got some of it figured out, at least for now.

I've been putting strips of moleskin in parts where I feel the plastic is rubbing up against each other.

So far it's been working. I'll update if the noise continues.

That stuff works amazing for rattles in vehicles. Plastic on plastic clip together or not is a remedy for rattles anywhere.

I use the same thing on the door panel clips of my 2012 f150 XLT, which had numerous rattles in the DoorDash caused by the cliphangers on the metal door skin interior. That stuff cleared it up right away was dead quiet after installing it on the plastic clips of the door panel.

I've also used the same style thing but foam and eighth thick by an inch wide with the sticky tape pre-applied. Both products work great at quieting rattles.

I thought for sure I had an intermittent rattle from my dash that would vary based on the road. My son was a passenger and I said "do you hear that rattle?" He said yes and pointed to my visor. Turns out it was my garage door opener clipped to the visor!! What a dunce. Now she's quiet as a mouse.

I did just about the same thing in my Kia Soul.

Kept hearing a rattle in the dash till a friend pointed out it was my readers bouncing around in the glasses holder above the mirror!

What was rattling in the door opening? Battery?

That's exactly what a (good) dealer does to remediate a rattle. It's included in the kit provided by the manufacturer (along with foam blocks of various sizes and densities).

Hey, John (jcrdva) --- can you provide a link for the moleskin roll? I've been looking all over for a roll of black 1 inch self-adhesive moleskin at a reasonable price ... thanks in advance!
Cheers, Tony

Tony,

We used CRL Moleskin channel liner.

We used it for window tinting. Some of the cars back in the early 2000's didn't have felt on the inside weather strip so we would have to add the moleskin to protect the film from scratching when the window rolls up and down.

This is a leftover roll from back then. It's been awhile since we had to order it so I can't remember where we got it from!

Maybe try a local tint shop?
