I have a 2024 XLT and have been trying to connect my Samsung phone via usb - usb-c cord and it keeps dropping the connection. Today I tried my daughters new apple usb-c - usb-c cord and it seemed to stay connected. Is it truly a better connection by using the double ended usb-c cord? What are your thoughts on using AAwireless two? Thanks

It's probably your cable causing the issue. Try another USB to USB-C cable. I only use one of those "braided" cables because the ends of the cheaper ones ALWAYS fail.

The vehicle to phone connection demands a quality cable due to the data being transmitted. And remember that a cable that works for charging may not work for data.

I agree that cord quality is the culprit in most problems like this. I may be wrong, but I believe the big difference between USB -> USBC and USBC -> USBC is that the old school USB does not fast charge.

I just had a cable fail on me. It was dark when it wouldn't work. In daylight, I could see that the plastic surrounding the metal had split, so I assume the wiring was screwed up. With a new cable, everything worked fine.
It was really frustrating, because I was trying to use Google Maps, and I guess the phone thought it was connected even though it wasn't, so I got no audio.

The connectors at the end of the cables don't affect fast charging but rather the rating of the cable does. Cables rated at higher wattage in both USB-C-to-USB-C and USB-A-to-USB-C can fast charge. The features supported are determined by cable quality and design-rating.

Archasaurus, your problem is definitely the cable rating/quality. Braided cables are not necessarily higher quality and, because of their rigidity, can cause other problems at the connection ends due to excessive strain from unwillingness to bend. Grab a cable that's rated for higher wattage/amps if you want fast charge and make sure it's rated for high speed data transfer too. USB 3.1 rating or better should do the trick. Here's an example of one with USB-A on one side. https://www.walmart.com/ip/LDLrui-U...Auto-iPhone-MacBook-Samsung-Pixel/13432701229

The Motorola MA1 has worked flawlessly for us.

I really hate cables of all kinds! They work perfectly until they don't. Network cables, HDMI cables, USB cables, they will be fine one day and bad the next. Sometimes they are in places where they never moved and have never been touched. They just quit working. Just keep a spare around for when it fails! If you buy one, don't waste money on expensive ones. Amazon brand is as good as any. I have so many USB cables lying around that I have never bought one.

I found that you need a cord rated for higher capacity. I had similar problems with my Samsung and using just a charging cord I had. When I bought and used this cord connectivity problems stopped other than poor interface of the SYNC3. Good luck. Purchased on Amazon.

I am using a USB wireless connection with no issues on my 2024 Maverick Lariat 4K. I would highly recommend this solution!

My Pixal phone connects via BT. I don't connect any cables and Android Auto works as soon as I turn on the ignition.

I was using AAWireless (original model) with great results up until about a month ago. I swapped out my screen to a 12" with built in wireless Android Auto. I'll sell it to you on the cheap if you are interested.
