When I received the Indiana title for my Maverick, I noticed it was listed as a Maverick XL instead of an XLT. Today I went to the license branch to check on this and get it changed so that, in the future, when the truck is sold, there won't be a question about the model.

I did get it fixed but the odd thing was that the clerk checked the VIN and it came back as a XL. She ended up going to the parking lot to check the VIN on the dash and the model designation on the fender. The window sticker also shows XLT.

I don't know what database they check for these things but this is not right. You might want to check the state paperwork on your Maverick to see if the correct model is listed.

Please report back to us if you have any discrepancy like I did.

I live in Anderson,In
I purchased mine in April and I had the same situation happen.
I had to take her out to the truck and show her.
Something wrong with their data base.
They fixed mine after I went back a second time.

Your states actually list the specific trim? My registration merely says "FORD STA WGN" for an Escape and "FORD 4-DOOR" for a Focus... The title at least lists the model, generally.

Certain states charge you property tax every year on your automobiles. The tax amount depends on the value of your vehicle(s). Higher trims pay higher taxes
They charge a vehicle tax, sure. "Property tax" refers to real estate 99% of the time.

Count VA in the 1% then. The official term is "Personal Property Tax", comes in the mail every year, for every vehicle you own (or every vehicle in your name). It's a city based tax thing, and if there is a vehicle with two owners in different cities, both owners get a tax bill...fun times. But we also can get personalized plates for damn near a nickel, so there are perks to living here

IDK, maybe he doesn't have those kind of taxes in the state he resides. Although I'm not completely sure, each state is gonna get ya in one way or another. Here, it's PPTs every year, but cheaper tags. Other states don't have PPTs on vehicles, but they have higher tag prices (looking at you Georgia)

Yeah I am just giving you a heads up that in most places "property tax" means real estate tax, and the internet had people from all over. But most folks would also know that "personal property tax" is not real estate.
