I’m having immense difficulty with my tailgate spoiler.
It just does not stay down. I’ve had to replace the 3M tape twice already. What’s the trick to getting it to stay in place?

I’ve used the adhesion promoter and wiped everything down with soap and water and isopropyl alcohol.
After a few hours in the sun it keeps popping off.

I’m at the point where I just want to trash it if I can’t get this thing to stick.

Try gorilla glue. I have to ask is this for looks or does it do something?
I have the cab spoiler, so I figured I’d get the tailgate spoiler too. Some say it improves fuel economy. I like the way it looks.

The surface you're attaching the tailgate spoiler to is textured. Good luck if it has ever been treated with a vinyl / plastic protectant or ceramic /cerakote product.
There is a big difference versus The painted roof where you attach the roof spoiler. You may need something more like an adhesive/glue.
Unfortunately, if you ever change your mind, you may end up replacing that whole plastic piece on the end of the tailgate.
Good Luck

What kind of 3m Tape ? There are choices... I replace all the add-ons - automatically with this style before install - i believe a lot of the china stuff is actual butyl tape with a red liner to look like 3m - worth a shot as mine has never failed (though I do not have the spoiler)

Amazon.com: 3M Super-Strength Molding Tape, 1/2 in x 15 ft, High Strength Double-Sided Adhesive, Permanently Attaches Side Moldings, Trim and Emblems to Interior and Exterior of Vehicles (03614) : Automotive

I had the same issue with my 25 Mav spoiler. I ended up using the same adhesive that I used on the cab spoiler. I always wanted it to be permanent so I took off the 3M, cleaned it with Alcohol about 3 times, then cleaned the tailgate part where it was going to be placed to about 3 times. After that I placed a small bead of adhesive around the entire edge and a few other spots for good measure while making sure the adhesive would not overflow once pushed down. After placing it down and covering it in the garage for over 24 hours I have not had an issue. Been 3 months now in all types of weather except snow and it's held up perfectly.
