During the side airbag recall they damaged the fabric and left greasy hand prints. The advisor took pictures and said the Service Manager would get back to me. Needless to say they haven't returned my calls. I'm in Canada. How do I go about getting my vehicle repaired?

Yep. This is why I avoided getting it done. Lots of reports on this or them screwing something else up. I'm not thrilled to have skipped this recall, but I refuse to let them work on my vehicle unless it's truly something I'm incapable of doing myself. Knowing the service departments around me, this was an easy choice for me to pass on.

As for getting it fixed, keep hounding them (just be tactful) or find another service department. Those really are the only options.

Start by escalating up the chain from the service advisor, i.e. Service Manager, General Manager, Owner. Preferably face to face with your detailed facts. If that doesn't work out, take to social media then small claims court. You can call or complain in writing to Ford but they have no skin in the game, technically they have very little to no control over the dealers

Agreed Montana. I don't want them to pry apart anything in my truck, till I have to.

What exactly was damaged, the headliner, or the dash?

The fabric near the front driver side was ripped and greasy hand prints on headliner

don't those piggys ever wash their hooves, they didn't get greasy doing your repair

it's gonna be tough to get dealer #2 to eat the parts and labor to correct dealer #1 mistakes. That definitely would require corporate Ford intervention.

Grease can be cleaned in most cases, rips no. Keep after them.

This is my biggest issue. Some places will cover the seats, steering wheel and floors before they get in. I've been a mechanic, and after work I either changed everything before getting in my vehicle or used a towel to entirely cover the seats and even still, that pumice soap doesn't get everything. I went so far as to install a pumice soap dispenser in my own shower! Took it straight from work lol.

It is not easy to stay clean as a mechanic and when you work on other people's stuff you need to seriously consider how dirty you are - and most people don't because they are just dirt all the time anyways.

Same goes for leaning over the hood... It's how things get scratched because of belt buckles, pocket clips, etc etc. When you live in a place that has winter weather most the year they seem to think they don't need to protect paint either. What should be done before working on vehicles is a rinse off to keep the shop clean and allows you to place mats around areas you are leaning on. It's gonna drop anyways so it might as well drip cleaner water instead of road debris all over the shop.

The place closest to me hoses off your vehicle after they are done, no matter what they do even if it's just an oil change or something. I had no idea. They have signs all over the place to a point where you don't even read any because there are so many. My truck went in cleanly waxed and came out hard water spotted after the first inspection I had them do which was going to lead up to this airbag recall. Plus I saw the conditions of the shop on my dashcam and the mechanic put his laptop on my hood and lean all over it. I knew right then I'd never go back.

Anyways, sorry OP. They just don't give a shit.

Montana, I have read your posts and you have confirmed my suspicions. You had to have worked in the field of being a mechanic! Yes, I have seen first hand how mechanics will work on a car. I usually see the behavior while waiting for my car. I take a look in the bay area. Its scary. I don't like to down an entire community as I am sure there are great mechanics who are careful, but they tend to be independent mechanics who own the business. Your are looking at the guy who will be working on your car!! AND they want you to come back! I took my 2015 Prius into a meticulous mechanic. He we was a little more expensive, but, you never had to worry about dirt, dings and scratches. He was damm good!

I’ve had a lot of success putting complaints into the BBB. I recommend using them if the dealer keeps giving you the run around.

Did you replace your airbags yourself?

They need to replace the entire headliner. That’s what they did with mine. 👍

My friend is the service manager so he and I did mine at his house so I could avoid this problem. He hates working on my vehicles. Lol
