Additional LED install on my XL

So i've taken up the hobby of Adding stuff to my XL. DIY to make it for like an XLT for cheaper. I Learned forscan for the SDM and 12 volt wiring off the forum. Im having loads of fun. So first off is Lighting. Additions to my 25 XL trim.

Lighting:

1) Amazon RV dome light for RV plus maverick innovation switch in bed/Canopy
Raycharm 10" RV Camper LED Awning Porch Utility Light Fixture, 40° Down Angle Beam

2) Hood Beam LED- i'm still not sure about this but it looks pretty good under the mabett hood deflector i had to vinyl tape it off above the headlights cuz it didnt look perfect. a lot of the escapes and expeditions have factory versions of these. this is my chinese knock off.

3) Mabett hood deflector LED

4)Niilight grille lights- These are the chinese raptor knock offs

5) Govee Ambient footwell lights- i got two boxes of these off costco for 20$ each and copied the install video from f150 LED's website. Bro charges 250$ for 6 LED's. I get 2 more fixtures and same features for 40$ CAD. 1)under steering wheel 2)under driver seat 3) under passenger 4) under glove box 5) behind passenger 6) behind driver 7) console storage 8) rear seat compartment. The switches integrate nice too their software is solid. I have some of their products in my game room.

Additional 12 volt:

1) Usb addition 2 -3 amp usb plugs: one wireless under rubber mat and one hardline cable coming from below dash. just a cleaner charge cable and adding wireless charge for my wife

2) Niilight fuse block so i can get all this stuff on an ignition based fuse. Fits perfectly behind the carpet next to the BCM fuse box

3) Wolfbox tri Pro dash cam. This is a fun install super cool tech helpful for blind spots with the canopy i dunno if id get it i didn't have a capper



I have another post coming after i get my custom heated sheepskin seat covers back from the stitcher. I got a custom harness and elements off a canadian company then got a leather stitcher to sew the elements onto the back of sheep skin covers.

If you get a chance can you talk about what you needed to do to install the lower set of marker lights you have in your grill area?

Yeah so the kit came with a harness and relay that can go to a fuse tap or just your battery, better if it's ignition based fuse. I had to use bailing wire to feed it through from the the engine compartment out to the grille area( probably hardest part) just duct tape the harness to the wire and feed it through. Then there is a nice little open area behind the fender to run wires into the cab. The passenger side, to the BCM fuse box. I just used butyle and cable ties to mount the fixtures on the grille. If I did it again I'd use adhesive promoter and 3m auto mounting tape.

the XL came with incandesant daytime running/signals i swapped them for LED's then i had to make them stop hyperflashing in forscan. theres other methods. to stop that. I wish i bought a more expensive hood beam though cuz thats the best "orange" i could get out of it.

Also when you get a chance can you take a closeup of the front of you truck so I can see what the front of bumper looks like with those light installed.

I assume you maybe had to pull off the grill to run the wires and mount the lights? Are these controled by the switch I see mounted in the center console area? I put in LED turn signal lights on my XL as well. I got lights from 150leds and got the resistors to keep the hyper flashing from happening.

Don't need to pull the grille off just feed the harness backwards with the bailing wire. theres a little hole in the top left corner by the radiator that you can feed the wires. No switch i just put them on an ignition based add a fuse tap so i don't have to think about it. the switch was for my heated seat covers. they pull maybe .5 amps each so you can put them anywhere. The switch is for my heated seat covers i'm gonna do a post about them when i get time. Ill take some photos for you when i get a sec

I put an additional switch on the hatch window for the topper lights so they come on when you open the hatch.

Neat mod! Do you have any specifics as to how it was wired in - in particular to the DRL circuit?

oh i just wired it into the the circuit that the mabett guys suggested on their hood deflector LED i actually just jumped the spliced wire into that one. just a fuse tap into a spare that turns off when you pull the key. in the fuse box pic that entire fuse block distro is in that one all the chinese LEDS basically #3 or #6 in passenger footwell
