I want to add wifi to my truck using a USB cellular modem, but am not having much luck finding one at one of the major companies (AT&T, Verizon, etc.). Has anyone done this and what USB cellular modem do you have or would you recommend? My plan is to get a SIM card from T-Mobile to use. They had the best rate and plan for my use in my area.

I know t mobile has a dedicated WiFi module that plugs into OBD II ports. You get a certain amount of high speed data depending on the plan you choose but they all include unlimited 3G data after

I'm on Google Fi and they give me a free extra sim for any devices, I keep it in my old phone so that I can just put it in hotspot mode.
I'm not sure how it compares speedwise to a proper wifi modem tho.

How about a jetpack? Had one from Verizon and it worked great. My work provided it. I believe T Mobile has something similar

Even if you set it up, does the Maverick understand that data port is there and is the Maverick programmed to import the data for dynamic traffic maps, etc?

All teslas have a modem built in for over the air software updates. If you pay them $100 a year for unlimited modem data, they give you real time traffic data, weather, games, web browsing, streaming movies and streaming music from their own service that is like Amazon music.

it’s very slick, but it is programmed to all be integrated from the very start.
