I've had trucks in the past with the brake light added to the receiver and like the thought of extra lighting for the rear. Does plugging on a hitch light confuse the CP 360 for rear blind spot alert? Will it think a trailer is behind it and turn off the rear warning? Thanks

Yes, it does what you were thinking. You have to OK a few dialog boxes to continue and it overrides the rear blind spot alert and assumes you are pulling a trailer. I have had my Black Lariat since April 5th and have the FORD hitch light.

I want to keep the blind spot on and use hitch brake light, can I do that?

3rd brake lights are supposed to be mounted at eye level or above to be effective. Look where they are placed on all new cars for last 10 years. Nobody driving in traffic is going to be watching your hitch for brake light and in fact it'll be invisible to many drivers because of high hood design of so many vehicles where we sit up higher like in trucks and SUVs. IMO it may look kinda cool in some ways, but worthless for added safety factor.
