I've ordered an XLT without the lux package. So I believe the drivers side is just a panel without a cubby.

I thought about adding a 120v inverter, but I'm actually thinking about just adding a standard 12v plug instead. Am I correct that I just need to run the included wires to this and drill a hole in the panel, then Bob's your uncle?

Yes that will work fine, that's a marine rated socket and your Maverick is supposed to come with the connector for the 12 volt wiring. And you'll still have the 12 volt wiring on the other side for another project.

Maybe I'll do something like this, instead. More switches than I need. I could use one for bed lighting.

Do you know if the wires in the bed are on a timer? If I get something like this with an LED, would it just drain the battery, or would it shut off after a few minutes?

I don't know for sure but I believe the two 12 volt bed connectors are on with the ignition in accessory position. No timer on them like a dome light.

That would work, too. I'd like to know if anyone has the answer.

That video is interesting. They say the compressor is not to exceed 15 amps x 12v = 180 watts. That implies that the circuit can't handle much more than that. The factory inverter option is 400 watts. I was thinking of putting another inverter in the cubby but the existing 12v wiring might not be able to handle much.

The idea of using the existing 12v wiring to put in another charging port is excellent though. You could plug in a powered cooler or USB port, lots of options there.

The truck comes with “battery saver” tech as it’s called in the owners manual. It will shut off power to accessories if the voltage starts dropping below normal levels. This should be less of a concern on the hybrid since the 12V ultimately draws from the traction battery, but both models come with it.

That sounds good. I just think it'd be a waste to have the led lights on the entire time; it'd likely shorten their life span as well. Maybe I can wire the entire panel to be on with one of the switches, then bed lights with another and then have a standard 12v option, too.

Yeah put in a 12v in this video.

I am going to do the led strip lighting since I don’t have lux package. Maybe do a 12v on the other side as well.
This is pretty slick. I'm probably going to be running it from the drivers side, though. Since there's nothing there, may as well put the plug in there. I'm liking the idea of the switch on the drivers side that could control the bed lighting and offer a 12v plug too.

What do you mean by this? The 12v system pulls extra power from the high voltage battery system?
You can think of the 12V battery (located under the rear seats) as no more than an intermediary (or voltage step-down) from the HVB (high voltage battery). The engine charges the HVB, the HVB powers the 12V battery, the 12V battery powers all the accessories and ports. Certain things like the A/C are run directly off of high voltage, but mostly everything else like door-locks, windows, power mirrors, etc are run off 12V to recycle existing parts.

Do you think the wiring is in place for a 120v inverter to be added to the bed without having to touch the 12 pigtails? I also ordered and xlt without lux and would really like the bed outlet

I am getting the 400 watt inverter but not the lux pack. I hope you can get the parts for the bed outlet and just plug it into the inverter. Even if you have to thread the wire it shouldn't be too hard. Otherwise it shouldn't be too had to splice in. If you can get the parts.
