On my last tank of gas, the indicated MPG was 43.6. In doing the actual calculation following the fill-up, the mileage was 41 MPG. Is there anyway a DIY'er can make the necessary adjustments to get the these two numbers in alignment?

Remember - gas pumps can shut off at different tank levels, skewing your results. It is very hard to get an accurate read on tank level without a lot of spillage. But good luck!

Yes - don't attempt that adjustment from 1 fillup.
On level surface, or slanted? To get more or less fuel, compared to next time.
Faster auto-click off due to bent fuel tube perhaps, I used a couple of those lately on a trip?

From what I've found in the first few thousand miles of driving is that the skew is highly variable, and not off by a specific percentage, based on irregular route driving - I don't commute or have a routine driving route for this truck. The dashboard has been off by wildly varying amounts, usually significantly high, but I've also had it read about 2-3 mpg low as well. The engineering adjustment would not be helpful in my use case.

The right way to do it would probably be over several tankfuls and use a longer term trend like a Trip2 long term average to make the adjustment. You'll never know what your real snapshot MPG is using only the dash estimate, but you should be able to get the long term average dialed in at least somewhat closer especially if you don't have a lot of varying workload and routes, like a commuter vehicle.

The trip computer mileage will always be off, its too optimistic.
After I got larger diameter tires (30") it is much closer, but that's because the car travels farther than the computer thinks it travels.

I personally would leave it and know whatever it says my actual MPG is about 3-4 worse.

Do a search, but I've heard that you can adjust it slightly using forescan maybe.
By the way, the only real way to know is track using something like fuelly.

Check out the 2nd post - no need for search or forscan.

BTW - if anyone doesn't like the idea of Ford getting info from truck - check out the permissions on Fuelly and what a user is giving up.
ETA - GasBuddy actually - no comment info on Fuelly.

Looks like a standard privacy policy on the website, and there's no reason not to use the site through Tor like every other website, which is what I do. Don't use apps when not needed, use Tor, privacy masked email, the standard fare - it's an anonymous website login with no PII revealed if you know how to use the internet properly. I never checked out the connected ACar app, it doesn't work with trip meter fuel-ups, only works with odometer based tracking so it won't work for me splitting up the towing and non-towing numbers..

Oops - it was GasBuddy that got called out for what they were doing, and not honoring their stated "you can request info delete".
I've seen it's stats in the bottom of many posters extra info like Fuelly is displayed, complaining about Ford's use of data.
