My Bronco Sport only had the four positions and would stop at Park and Drive. Much better than the eternal spin my Mav has. You could also put it in reverse at highway speeds to check the rear view camera and then flip it back to drive.
If there is a dial with positive stops we might be able to swap just the dial from the bronco. Though it looked like theirs changed to the centipede spinner at some point.

Could also probably modify one of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BM4HTG4V? to have a flip cover for the dial and drive modes. https://www.amazon.com/TRADESAFE-Emergency-Dimensions-Transparent-Installation/dp/B09D2VTZCZ

The very thing i said to my salesman when i was settling in for my test drive. Great place for a shifter dial what happens when i spill my iced coffee? He said it was sealed area.... not willing to test that theory. I never have had any issue "feeling" the change from one position to another without looking. I have driven every kind of shifting set up. Prefer my 94 F150 manual transmission shifter on the floor but have had no trouble learning the dial one without any incidents. I have had one of the 3 buttons at the bottom of the console pushed by mistake putting on the park hold or turning off the traction control. Both i had to use the manual to figure out from the icon what i had done and what it was for. Would also prefer a bench type seat and the biggest learning curve i have had in 3 months is not hitting my head on the way in, to used to stepping up into a truck instead of down but loving mine!
