Hello Truck Club Buddies,
Since I posted about my purchase and first 200 miles, I wanted to provide an update about how I’ve accessorized and modified my Maverick.
Tonneau Cover
I went with the Sentry CT from RealTruck.com, as recommended by @SiLence and @pxpaulx. The install was simple. The rails attach easily to the truck bed sides on the left and right. If you have a ½” ratcheting wrench you can do this easily. Don’t pay to have this thing installed. I generally lack spatial reasoning and mechanical ability and had no problem. I have no wind noise from the cover at highway speed and credit the Velcro for that. I do recommend kneepads for the install, as the Maverick bed has those little grooves. My knees still hurt! Also make sure you reach out to Alex for a discount. His email is [email protected]. I got an excellent deal. Delivery time was supposed to be 2-5 weeks. I ordered on the 16th and it came on the 24th.
Bed Dividers
Several in the truck club have mentioned using wood as a bed divider. I went to Lowes and spent less than $20 for a 2x6x10 and $6 on a can of Plasti Dip. Lowes cut the wood to 54.25” so I got 12” height out of that one board. I put two coats of the plastic paint on the first board and exhausted the can. I need to go back and pick up a second. No rattle while driving.
Switchback Lights
@CLH917 posted about Lasfit 4257 switchback lights. I just installed these. It is beyond easy. It is literally twist out the fixture and pull out the bulb. Repeat in reverse to put it back. I have zero fear that if anything happens, I can easily change the turn signals. I’ll continue to test over the next couple weeks, but these things are amazing.
Other Maverick Purchases
I really wanted the bed extender, but now I don’t think I need it. The bed divider lumber/rubber solution works really well. I have a 4’x6’ cargo net and rachet straps that I keep in the bed cubby. The cargo net was perfect for my first dump run today.
I went with a flat blue Broadview rearview mirror. It’s nice so I can be able to see the kids in the back seat. Before the mirror, I noticed the AC lights reflecting off the rear glass, which is very distracting. It does take away from my view out the windshield, so I don’t know if I’m going to keep it up all the time.
What’s Next
I obviously need to finish that second bed divider board. Aside from that, @Obiewan54 posted about taillight LEDs. They are sitting on my kitchen table to install later this week. Next to those blubs are my black tailgate letters. Also planning to install those later this week. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but after I do that the only non-LED exterior lights are the third break lights. I’m eyeing @Mitch Panda Motorworks LED blubs.
Thank you
I honestly think this is one of the best vehicle groups out there. So I wanted to end this with a thank you for all of you for sharing your knowledge, know how, and thoughts with others in such a positive way. This community will be what we make it and I, for one, want to make it the best it can be.
