Hello Truck Club Buddies,

Since I posted about my purchase and first 200 miles, I wanted to provide an update about how I’ve accessorized and modified my Maverick.

Tonneau Cover
I went with the Sentry CT from RealTruck.com, as recommended by @SiLence and @pxpaulx. The install was simple. The rails attach easily to the truck bed sides on the left and right. If you have a ½” ratcheting wrench you can do this easily. Don’t pay to have this thing installed. I generally lack spatial reasoning and mechanical ability and had no problem. I have no wind noise from the cover at highway speed and credit the Velcro for that. I do recommend kneepads for the install, as the Maverick bed has those little grooves. My knees still hurt! Also make sure you reach out to Alex for a discount. His email is [email protected]. I got an excellent deal. Delivery time was supposed to be 2-5 weeks. I ordered on the 16th and it came on the 24th.

Bed Dividers
Several in the truck club have mentioned using wood as a bed divider. I went to Lowes and spent less than $20 for a 2x6x10 and $6 on a can of Plasti Dip. Lowes cut the wood to 54.25” so I got 12” height out of that one board. I put two coats of the plastic paint on the first board and exhausted the can. I need to go back and pick up a second. No rattle while driving.

Switchback Lights
@CLH917 posted about Lasfit 4257 switchback lights. I just installed these. It is beyond easy. It is literally twist out the fixture and pull out the bulb. Repeat in reverse to put it back. I have zero fear that if anything happens, I can easily change the turn signals. I’ll continue to test over the next couple weeks, but these things are amazing.

Other Maverick Purchases
I really wanted the bed extender, but now I don’t think I need it. The bed divider lumber/rubber solution works really well. I have a 4’x6’ cargo net and rachet straps that I keep in the bed cubby. The cargo net was perfect for my first dump run today.

I went with a flat blue Broadview rearview mirror. It’s nice so I can be able to see the kids in the back seat. Before the mirror, I noticed the AC lights reflecting off the rear glass, which is very distracting. It does take away from my view out the windshield, so I don’t know if I’m going to keep it up all the time.

What’s Next
I obviously need to finish that second bed divider board. Aside from that, @Obiewan54 posted about taillight LEDs. They are sitting on my kitchen table to install later this week. Next to those blubs are my black tailgate letters. Also planning to install those later this week. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but after I do that the only non-LED exterior lights are the third break lights. I’m eyeing @Mitch Panda Motorworks LED blubs.

Thank you
I honestly think this is one of the best vehicle groups out there. So I wanted to end this with a thank you for all of you for sharing your knowledge, know how, and thoughts with others in such a positive way. This community will be what we make it and I, for one, want to make it the best it can be.

Clicked through your linked post and needed to comment! Who is copying who here?!

Cactus Gray.
Sentry CT.
Bed net...with Orange Carabiners.
Lasfit signal bulbs.

Oh and I took a bed full of cardboard to the recycling center last Wednesday.

The resemblance is uncanny!

They are twins! Did you name yours yet? Robin Hood could match Little John. I realized you were the one who promoted the Sentry. I’m going to add you in the tag.

Update with instructions by popular demand.

I ordered these from TVD Final Decals on Etsy. Cost was less than $20 and arrived within 5 days of ordering. Mine are the matte black.

I generally followed these instructions.

I rubbed the letter area down with Isopropyl alcohol. I had some left over from the tonneau cover install, so that was nice. I then sprayed down the entire area with soapy water. 5 drops of regular dish soap mixed with 10oz of tap water. The decals pulled right off like a sticker. The “wet” application was super easy. It just slid into place and I nudged the decals right where I wanted them. I then dried off the area and any extra run off. The decals are starting to adhere nicely. I’m going to wait 24-hours before taking it on the road and really testing out how well they adhered.

Overall this is a 1/5 on the install difficulty. I hate putting on screen protectors and I did this without a problem.

Loved the detail feedback. Thank you for the great advice switchback ordered and doing similar bed divider. With plasti dip did you use on edges of wood as well? Wondering if it will hold up sliding it in and out or peel off. 👍🏾

I had some 2x4s laying around... I cut 3 to size, spayed them black and stacked them. Works great. I am still waiting for my tonneau to come in... I ended up ordering the Ford version of the rollup and will post when it comes in.

I'm really glad you asked this. The Plasti Dip is starting to peel off. It was a good idea, but the product isn't great for wood. I might sand the wood and retry with actual black spray paint or a nice coat of oil paint.

That‘s great to know and was my concern. Thanks for feedback, I will go black spray paint or oil paint as well.

I was thinking of using that fancy last forever wood that they use on decks these days. Any thoughts?

I'd love to find something like this or lightweight that is precut to the right width.

I have used the Rustoleum BedLiner spray can for 7 or 8 yrs on a wooden bed of a trailer and it just does not peel off…a hard surface paint and last forever…also cheap. It matches perfectly with my LineX sprayed in bed liner. Looks just like LineX or Rino Liner.

Actually one of the sales benefits of Plasti-Dip paint is that it is easy to peel off.👎

I work for a fence company and picked up a vinyl 2x6 rail and cut it to length. Weighs practically nothing and the price was right. It's white, but it's in the bed and I can live with it.
