I removed the orange tray in the center console to make connecting my iPhone to CarPlay a one handed endeavor (another post on that shortly) and found this compartment. It appears to be useless on my truck. Anyone know what it’s for?

Pull the strap/lever/mechanism inside and it puts the truck in neutral when the engine is dead. Didn't need these in the past (recent past?) because the gear shifter was mechanically linked with the transmission. Nowadays, everything is just electronic and digital, that compartment is the result.

it's the passenger ejector switch under that cover only works when wife is in bad mood.
It's where the gremlins live.
