I was looking for a way to use the infamous cubby, but stuff kept falling out. I wanted a decorative door, when I came across this brand of refrigerator/vehicle magnets. They are made by a company called "Desperate Industries". ( https://desperate.com/view-all/magnet/ ) They also make tin signs that are larger. Anyhow, these magnets fit almost perfectly in the cubby opening. I just took a large magnet and put it in the cubby with doublesided tape. Now the vertical Texaco magnet simply magnetically stays in the door opening. When I want to get in to push my garage door opener, I simply flick it down and it stays open. To close, simply flick it up. For the horizonal Ford magnet, I put a big magnet on the back so it simply stays held with magnetic force. I just take it off to get in the cubby.

These themed magnets are sold at Autozone for only $5 each! They had about 10 to choose from when I went in, but If you look at the company website, they have about 25 versions overall. They have beer, cars, sports, comics, vintage, gas, guns, etc.) I plan on getting more (especially gas and Coke) and just changing them out with my mood and the seasons. I also plan on putting in some rare earth magnets that are small to maximize the interior cubby space. Kind of a fun, inexpensive way to personalize my cockpit! Cheers.

It is OK to store your garage door opener next to a magnet?

It’s been working. I don’t think magnets do, especially something as weak as this one.

I'm trying this. Working so far, and still have storage.

Exactly. I got one that is close to full height so the garage door opener sits nice and high.
I like that. Is it your design? Or found online? If only my garage door opener was thin enough, I would be more excited.
