On Friday I picked up my Lariat from Chapman in NE Philly. I appreciate Ed and his crew making delivery easy and the price we agreed upon via emails since my orig July order. It was modified in Sep to add the required AWD since my original order was FWD/4k. Bottom line I got the 4% under invoice, my military discount, 36 mo at 0% interest and my free AWD. I was very pleased with the purchase price and there was no fluff added to the contract. I ordered a Lariat, 2.0, AWD, 4k, 360, mats and f/s spare.
I drove the Mav from Philly to Norfolk Friday and home Saturday. Both legs were approx 350 miles with the first leg being urban and county roads to stay off the interstate. Leg 2 was running I95 with the cruise set at 78 mph. Overall mpg said 30.8 on the first leg and dropped to 29.5 on leg 2. I didn't do a manual check and to be honest I don't really care as long as the mileage is close to what the mfg says. I do know I drove 465 miles before my first fill up and still had gas in the tank. I don't know what fuel grade Chapman put in the tank but I filled up with 87 octane and in normal driving mode with normal driving habits but kept off the Interstate on the first leg to break it in my way which was probably not required. I did get some looks on I95 and a couple comments at rest areas so chatted with a few people about the truck.
Most of my following comments have been reported before but this is just my 2 cents.
I don't listen to the radio but didn't feel the engine noise was excessive, actually normal to me since my last truck was the Ranger with the 2.3 turbo. I thought the Mav was quiet on the road, no hood shake nor door seal issues. 12" screen was more upright than most cars but will get used to that and it could be a little brighter but part of that is my old age and eyesight not what it used to be and as a result I don't like driving at night anymore.
The window controls on drivers door are a little more fwd that my other cars so when I hit the button to lower drivers window I hit the rear window so the fix is training my hand to move a little fwd to get the right button. I use apple car play so am happy there. I don't care about remote anything nor keypads. I don't need a heated anything but cruise is mandatory. Pushbutton start is nice but don't need that either but I do like the 360 since it helps with the blind spot so worth every penny. Most of the dash controls will never get used so probably could've been just as happy with a base XLT but thought I would splurge this time since we aren't talking big truck money.
Overall I am very pleased and it rides more like a SUV than a truck which it should. Easy to get in and out and I can reach anything in the bed without needing a step ladder. I doubt the back seat will ever be used so will make no comments there. I am getting used to the rotary gear selection dial and actually starting to like it. Still think the engine start/stop is silly so I don't use it. Insurance was about the same as my other cars so no additional comment there.
I can't believe people will pay over MSRP for a Maverick unless you have the I want it now disease. I know times change and paying less than MSRP isn't as easy as used to be but when someone asks for more it will be a cold day in hell when I do that. In fact the last time someone asked me for more than MSRP was for a new Datusn 240Z around 1973 and I didn't but that car either.
Now off to give the truck its first bath.
