70mpg at 40mph achieved with Hybrid

I've found that 40 is the sweet spot on flat ground. Just too many hills around me to work it up that high.

Mississippi, but this trip was on the Natchez Trace above Jackson. Mostly flat with light, long hills.

Not a chance. I nearly floored it in frustration once I turned off the trace. I'm fine with 40mpgT.

Update.
In July I did a round trip from Navarr to Pensacola via the reserve. Completely flat with lots of curves. About 30 miles each way, but carrying About 400 more lbs.
Similar Temps.

53mpg one way, 56 mpg the other, but my cruise was set on 35mph.

So 40mph really is a sweet spot for the maverick hybrid.

40 was the sweet spot maybe 45 in the first generation Escape Hybrid.

Jay Leno says this is the sweet spot for ANY vehicle and I agree. Certainly for every vehicle I have ever owned.

My first gen Insight would get better than 100 MPG at 40 mph.
