Interesting write up. I don’t have any of the problems that you do. The Bang and Olufsen sound system sounds fabulous. The stereo interface works fine. Apple car play works fine, the navigation is fine, but the voice recognition is a little weak, but still works. My adaptive cruise control with lane keep assist messes up a fair bit, but it’s not measurably worse than my Tesla. So what are comparing it to, another companies’ car’s or are you comparing to your idea of perfection? My forward collision alert / emergency braking is fine. To me it is triggering a smidge too late. Mine is a 2024, so maybe they shortened the alert distance to prevent that “round the corner” problem. And I’m completely ok with the interior plastics. I think it looks great, but I got the lariat, so it has quite a few elements that make it look nicer. And I don’t have dogs or kids in my car to destroy stuff. Those will damage any interior, Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, it doesn’t matter. They will make a 2 year old car look like a 10 year old car on the inside.

To me, the takeaway is: don’t buy the stripped down version of the Maverick, or you will regret it.
I have a base XL and I don't regret it. I love the truck. The only options are tow hitch, full size spare, and rubber bed mat. It does what I need it to do and gets great gas mileage. Everyone has different needs and tastes.

Although I have the Lariat, I can vouch for your comment about the Ecoboost engine itself. It's fantastic and makes it fun to drive. It has plenty of power and torque once that turbo kicks in. And I love hearing the induction noise when it does. Sounds like a mini-diesel.😁

Also, it's the smoothest 4-cylinder I've ever driven. You wouldn't even know the engine was running. It's very refined for what it is. Sometimes it's jerky on cold starts but once it's warmed up, buttery smooth. And since they added slightly more sound deadening for 24, it's a little quieter inside (the inclusion of foam pads inside the front door jambs that were missing in my 22)

The fuel economy could be better considering the size of vehicle and engine but not bad either. I have the FX4 package so AWD. Despite this, I still average 24-26 mpg city and 31-32 mpg highway. The hybrid is where these Mavericks excel but the consistent quality control issues/recalls, especially in the first model year, scared me away from them.

I'm glad you're enjoying your Maverick overall. I am as well. It does everything I want it to with no fuss. It's good looking, affordable and comfortable. These attributes translate into a great daily driver.
Hi,

I was looking for engine noise and found several bits here.

Sound: I too have a (2024 South American version) Lariat FX4 with "mini diesel" sounding engine (don't like it.. but like the "turbo" sound). Will look into sound pads.

Mileage: 26mpg city is ca. 11 kpl. I get average of 7.6 kpl or 17.8 mpg. I use 93 octane fuel. Any tips?

I'm looking to use forscan to enable Eco-mode, i imagine this should help improve mileage.

Thanks for sharing!

Agree. Only option I added to my XL Hybrid is CP360 - well worth the $650 additional, at the time. No mechanical or electrical issues yet. Still on the original FLA 12v battery, too. So far, I haven't used the 3/36 conventional warranty or the 8/100 Hybrid warranty.
I do have a dash rattle that really annoys me. But I don't want a dealer ripping into the dash to fix it and ending up with even more rattles than before.

With decent aftermarket tires, the FWD works great in snow or steep gravel roads.

I test drove an EB but still stuck to buying a hybrid and am so glad I did. Needless to say, WAY better mpg and the difference in power/acceleration to me is negligible. Was a titch concerned about only FWD since I can see some nasty winter weather but surprisingly enough my little Maverick handles better in slippery weather with stock tires than any other FWD vehicle I've ever owned except for the one I had snow tires with.

What are your brakes looking like? I just rolled 60K and the rear look like they need replacing ASAP and front have another 10K left or so I'd guess.

At my last oil change and inspection a few weeks ago, I believe my brakes were in the yellow. So, still got some life left.

Quick update on my original post here. I traded "Dory" in on 2/16/25 for a '25 XLT AWD in Space White. Big upgrade with going to the larger screen and AWD. I put 120k on Dory in less than 4 years. Went through three sets of tires. Rear brake pads lasted until 114k in which I replaced both front and rear. All four rotors and the front pads were still fine. Had the CV axles replaced at 102k under warranty. I did have bigger tires installed, but wasn't an issue having the axles warrantied. Dealer gave me $12k for my trade and I owed $13K. I ended up giving $26,950 for the new one, plus TTL and what I rolled over. So, since Dory was $25k MSRP in 2022 and was FWD and this one is AWD, technically I paid less for this one than my first one. Not bad....
