I just recently did my second oil change on my XL hybrid. ( first done just shy of 11k showing about 16%oil life). At almost 23k miles, I still had 24% oil life left on the monitor. So the monitor must account for different driving habits.

I monitor my oil levels at every fill up. I have not noticed any depreciable oil loss during over 10k miles Oil change goes as normal. Easy access minus the removal of 15 T30 fasteners.

I replaced the oil with Pennsoil full synthetic and a Fran extended life filter.

Personally,I wouldn't trust the monitor,I think it's just a guide.i had a Honda CRV that showed over 50% oil life at over 6 thousand miles with conventional oil. I'd stick with fords factory recommendation of 5 thousand miles for an oil change.curious if the hybrid recommendation is different?

A lot has been written here about oil changes with opposing viewpoints on just about everything. Personally, I am on the side of an early initital oil and filter change regardless of which engine/drive type - like at 2.5k-3k miles and another in 5k more miles. I am also using Motorcraft filters and Mobil 1 full syn rhat meets Ford's specs. First oil change the FL921 and the second I used the FL400 filter so if I had to make a claim under warranty that would be one less thing Ford could use to escape responsibility. To each his/her own.

5K or one year for the EgoBoost, whichever comes first. Not sure about the Hybrid. Different breed of cat.

...curious if the hybrid recommendation is different?
Definitely. The Hybrid gasoline engine isn't running during a lot of Hybrid driving, especially in town. The truck's oil change computer recommendation takes that, and some other factors, into consideration. For low miles per year, the Hybrid oil should be changed once a year, otherwise, when the truck tells you the remaining oil life is low. An oil analysis will likely show the truck's computer errs on the conservative side.
