If it weren't for the fact that I already got my 2024 XL Eco Boost FWD for $23,400 I would have just purchased a used Maverick instead of getting the 2025 Model Year. I fear this car is becoming financially unreasonable for the average person. R.I.P Affordable Maverick.

Also whats with the touch screen climate control? And that Front Bumper? Has Ford never heard the saying "If it ain't broken don't fix it"?

^Dont wanna get banned for having an opinion so I won't be responding to any comments, Thanks.

It's only 3k more than a base hybrid Toyota Corolla... It's still a fantastic value for what you get.

Well I guess its what to expect in car pricing. My 2020 Ecosport had a $26540 sticker BUT I only paid $16870 back in Sept 2020, there was a 5k rebate at the time plus dealer was being sold . That WAS Fords lowest priced vehicle at the time. so 26K is it.

BUT the Ecosport was a AWD SE quite loaded. Heated power seat sync 3 , sunroof XM satellite radio . Were base Mav is striped.

A lot of the price increases in the past few years is due to zero competition. Ford has a hit here with no real competition in this class and they know it. That's why for 2025 they aren't even bothering to offer front wheel drive with the Ecoboost, you get the higher cost AWD or nothing.

For perspective, when the Model T came out the average person could buy it with 4 months pay. Today average of 4 months pay is about $21K (of course huge variability on any number of factors). Modern vehicles have so many more creature comforts it's hard to even make a comparison. But I'd take the Maverick over a model T for most trips.

Prices go up and rarely come down.

When I built a '25 exactly as mine came this past November, it was about $28XX more.

Is $30,400k a bad deal?

I haven't looked at every possible trim and option combinations as far as inflation. What I'm pretty sure about are the financials involved with the Lariat trim.

I went to my local dealership here in southern Indiana a couple weeks ago to discuss the pricing of the 2024 and 2025 Lariats with the hybrid engine. The 2024 MSRP on that trim with a sunroof, hard trifold box cover, and floor mats is/was $38,145.

The 2025 Lariat with the same options is $40,640. For that $2,500 upcharge vs 2024, you're getting AWD, 360-degree camera system, 13.2-inch infotainment display with SYNC 4, the trailer hitch assist, and the larger (19") wheel/tire setup. In other words, the 2025 Lariat is getting all of that on the cheap and with no inflation.

And since I'm getting AWD standard on the Lariat, it was no-brainer adding the 4K Towing package for $745. (I wouldn't have paid for AWD to get that.)

Ford is basically making Maverick Lariat the trim that you must buy if you can afford the extra money. It's well spent.

Something like the new 1961 6cyl Plymouth MSRP $2250 with $1900 painted on windshield that I traded in my 1952 that I paid $340 for 2 years earlier. I got $1120 trade in for it. Daddy said something's not right but we got it. This was Sat afternoon. Tuesday morning newspaper headline was "Plymouth Dealership Files Bankruptcy".

Had no competition in the space when they started offering them for $20K!

Ford is going to easily sell every '25 Mav they make, only opportunity cost IMO is that initially the idea was nobody would miss the entry level Fiestas or Focuseses when you could get a 37mpg pickup at an entry level price!

Now the cheapest Ford will be $26.3K before destination, whereas say Nissan offers the '24 Versa at $16.7K, Sentra at $21.2K, and the new '25 Kicks is supposed to start around $22.5K to compete with the likes of the the '25 Trax at $21.5K or maybe you want something sporty looking like an Elantra at $21.6K.

From what I hear, the really low end and the halo cars don't actually make money for their brands, but the aspirational cars raise the brand's value while the cheaper ones can introduce younger buyers to the brand. So if Jimmy's first vehicle is an Elantra, maybe his next vehicle will be a Santa Cruz since he's now familiar with Hyundais.

I bought my '22 Lariat EB for $28,750 MSRP before Farm Bureau discount. It does not have AWD which I did not need in GA and is now "standard" on the Lariat for about 2200 dollars more. I got the blind spot monitor, trailer hitch, and full-size spare. The only thing I would like that was in the Luxury package at that time was ACC. Oh, and by the way I got three years financing at zero percent interest. I was thinking of buying a '25 XL or XLT Eco Boost but would be forced to get AWD which I do not need.

The 41K Lariat in '25 may be a must buy if you can afford it; however, 41K with today's finance rates are not affordable to many just to get the bells and whistles over the XL or XLT. Just my opinion............. 🐕

It's kinda of like how a Shelby gt 350 from the 1960s was over 50 grand, more than a V8 s650 mustang. Yet it was slower, and a worse car in every way than a base rental spec mustang Ecoboost 4 cyl.

Cars have never been better values for the money. A fully loaded explorer from the 90s was basically the equivalent of 50 or 60 grand. Yet offered less luxury than a brand new base 30k explorer.

25 model is getting overpriced for what you get and I would not buy it simply because it is essentially ugly. It now has one of the worst looking front ends and that is including all the foreign import models. Ford really did a number on that front end. They should have made that the rear end!
