Is this is happening on multiple drives of different sizes and from different manufacturers?

I definitely would not get my hopes up for a software update anytime soon, since they haven't put that audio setup in a Maverick in the last two years. I'd be especially skeptical that any future updates would fix a USB performance issue anyway.

Oh, I've only used the one flash drive. As it was not consistent glitching, I've assumed the head unit was at fault. I am going to write down which songs glitch to see if there is a pattern related to codec, as the stick has a mix of WAV, MP3 and AAC files.

My theory is that the ACM just doesn't have the computing power to run the system reliably. SYNC 3 doesn't have those issues as it has an additional APIM to handle that compute.

I got very, very tired with the base audio in my 2023, so I finally pulled the trigger on:

And it was a 30 minute install, no issues whatsoever, and while I already loved my Maverick, it has made me love it so much more as everything just works, perfectly. Well worth it to just ditch the base if you have the means.

Yep, other's have posted this upgrade. My only occasional use the Mav entertainment system doesn't justify $1500 to remedy a poor OEM decision.

Absolutely can appreciate that, as everyone's use cases are different. I am in my truck a ton due to work, etc so it made it worth it to me.

You are spot on with Ford's poor decision on this. The base infotainment center is laughably bad and its frustrating to me that it was even an option.

From what I have seen, just adding a sync 3 APIM helps a lot. Still $$$$$$$$$$, but not as much as the sync 4.

Try getting an upgrade for your usb bluetooth dongle. I paid for the more expensive one and the issues seemed to have gone away.

On another note, I will be installing the Dasaita 12.3" Android Upgrade on my 2023 XLT this weekend. It comes with a built-in bluetooth to sync with a cell phone so no more dongle. I will post how the install goes after I am done.

Anyone know if there is anything that we can disable to free up some compute on the ACM? I would trade EQ and speed compensation for stability.

So, a surprising discovery, the glitching was only happening on songs I ripped at higher AAC bit rates. The USB stick was apparently highly fragmented and while a USB 3.0 device, didn't have the read throughput while fragmented to allow the head unit to buffer properly.

Copying the tracks to a higher speed--and much larger--uSD card and using a USB-C adapter, the glitching has not reoccurred.
