Bought a new 2025 XL a couple weeks. Decided to wax the hood. The paint in red circled area feels like sandpaper. You can't see it put you can definitely feel it. Anybody else have this problem?

I’m sure your dealership would be able to detail it better, however it sounds like you may want to perform it yourself by using a clay bar kit and that should take any contamination out before you wax 😉

I have the same issue and have a love/hate relationship with the paint on my '25 XL. I'm not sure how to explain it, but the paint almost feels like a matte-gloss combination? It's a very odd texture. I'm assuming Ford used a cheaper method to "paint" these vehicles to cut costs.

I bought a brand new '25 XL in black, and it came with small flaws in the paint, mostly on the hood. I didn't complain too much because I got it under MSRP during the stop-sale, when they weren't readily available due to recalls.

I'm pretty sure when I have the vehicle professionally clay-barred, first-stage paint corrected, and ceramic coated, that the flaws won't be visible, as they barely are now.

Thanks for the advice. I used the clay bar and it came out nice and smooth

I agree with you on matte-gloss combination.

Before the clay bar, cars which shipped by rail should be cleaned with an iron remover because the train's brakes shed hot metal particles that can embed themselves in the fresh paint.

Once that's out, then use the clay

The Maverick has a very thin paint job...Most complaints are about the hood. I clay-bared entire truck...easy to do, except hood and roof, and the hood stood out as the worst area. Did a ceramic coating and hood did not come out as good as the rest of the truck.

Thin paint, but remember it is an economy vehicle.
