I also have a 2025 XLT hybrid, and it seems to me that it engages the e-brake when I park or turn off the vehicle? When I start up the car through, I do not need to release the e-brake. Has anyone else noticed this or is it my imagination?
According to the owners manual, the Mav will release it automatically:

Automatically Releasing the Electric Parking Brake

Close the driver door.

Shift into gear.

Press the accelerator pedal and pull away in a normal manner.

I haven’t noticed that behavior. Definitely have turned on the ebreak on a steep hill. But now that you mention it. Today when I parked on a particularly steep driveway I could have sworn when I went into park it also enabled the ebreak.

As for automatically applying, that seems more fuzzy:

The electric parking brake switch is on the center console.

Pull the switch up.

The red warning lamp flashes during operation and illuminates when the parking brake is applied.
Note: You can apply the electric parking brake when the ignition is off.
Note: The electric parking brake could apply when you shift into park (P). See Park (P).

Park
In park (P) power is not transmitted to the driven wheels.

Note: A tone sounds if you attempt to exit your vehicle without the vehicle in park (P).

Note: Your vehicle may not shift out of park (P) if the 12 V battery has run out of charge.

Note: Your vehicle may not shift out of park (P) if a fuse is blown.

Note: Your vehicle may not shift out of park (P) unless the key or remote control is inside your vehicle.

Note: The electronic parking brake could apply when you power your vehicle on with the selector in park (P).

Note: The electronic parking brake could apply if you shift to park (P) without fully pressing the brake pedal.

Note: The electronic parking brake could apply if you shift to park (P) on a slope.

Note: Do not manually release the parking brake when the selector is in park (P). See Automatically Releasing the Electric Parking Brake.

Note: Your vehicle could shift into park (P) if you attempt to exit your vehicle without the transmission in park (P). See Automatic Return to Park (P).

Note: A tone could sound when you select park (P).

When I put it into drive to go home it allowed me to drive home but when I got home put it into park and turn off the car alarm went off with the following message saying the transmission is not in park I got the alarm and mission to go away by Appling the brake (not the e-brake) something is not aligning up.

Just curious.. . In my 2023 Bronco Sport Badlands when is in D drive and I open the door ( mailbox ) the D shifts automatically to the P park position, same feature happens when I push the ignition Off in the D drive position... is this feature available in the Maverick??? I haven't noticed it

Yes, exactly the same since the start - in the manual notes in comment above.

Sounds like a sensor issue of system not thinking it's in Park.

Though there is a parking pawl that with ebrake engaged first could in theory not be pushed where it needs to be due to no movement.
But defeats the whole purpose of providing strain relief to the pawl if you can't do e-brake 1st.

I'm guessing that sensor is in the transmission.

Strange that just a normal brake pedal push would clear it though.
