Would of rather seen the new Santa Fe in a truck format. These are the same vehicle arent they?

Similar names, but the Santa Cruz came before this gen Santa Fe. The Santa Cruz is most closely related to the Tucson. That was one reason the Santa Cruz concept was so delayed, they wanted to release it with the last generation Tucson platform, but found it was too weak to support trucky stuff, so the next gen they built beefier.

That said, manufacturers these days are pretty much just making a modular "platform" and then modifying the basic underpinnings to make several different types of vehicles from it. Same with like the Subaru Crosstrek, Outback, Forester, or Ford with the Escape, Maverick, and Bronco Sports its all the same platform, and the case of Hyundai they just call it the "third gen platform".

Remember, this is just a refresh, not a next generation, so 99% of the body work needs to stay identical. By redesigning much of the interior, they already did a lot as far as a refresh goes.

I think the older SC design looked better. 2 things against the Santa Cruz (turbo) was that it had large wheels with low profile tires and a DCT that was prone to overheating when driving the trails. The 18" wheels on the non-turbo looked better IMO. Don't understand some of these manufacturers putting large wheels with low profile wheels on vehicles that are meant to go off road. Looks over function. Anyone that knows cars knows a smaller wheel with a higher sidewall is better for off roading. A higher sidewall has more impact resistance and less chance of damaging the wheel on a bump or depression. The SC was touted by Hyundai as an "adventure vehicle" yet they put a transmission in the turbo version more suited to highway/street driving and and wheels more suited to paved roads.

Really impressed by the interior refresh. They pretty much solved all my gripes with touch buttons and gloss black.

Overall I like the appearance of the SC over the Maverick. I like fun, quirky vehicles (owned a Flex and Kona before my Mav) and think the styling of the Maverick is a bit of a let down honestly.

For a while there, the thought was the bigger the wheel the more expensive the car. We're in the minority, but it seems that smaller wheels are making a comeback, as while some vehicles like the 2025 Nissan Kicks were seen with AWD, lots of ground clearance, but rubber band tires, there were a lot more "rugged" types with the beefier tires.

I like them, especially if the tire is a bit oversized width wise for the wheel, as it helps with road imperfections and reduces stress since you don't have to worry about curb rash when parking as close as possible to the curb to prevent door dings.

Hyundai,

Why are a bunch of Ford Owners running threads in the MTC about those POS vehicles ?

I don't get it.
If Honda, Toyota or Nissan try for the Maverick's Play ground I'll take notice.

All these bullshit start ups, all the Cheap ass Chinese cars, Sure they run good for a while
But DAYUM guys, They are crap. The Structural metallurgy is dangerously composed of too much silica, sand. After 6 to 7 years of heat cycling it becomes too brittle.

Every one I ever knew that had a Hundi with about a 125-150,000 miles had a oil leaker dropping stains in the driveway, rainbows in the street gutters and ditches from the leaking motor oil.
Their Engines are junk.

To design the Interior Hyundai Bought a couple of Honda's a Couple of Toyotas and a few Fords,
Then copied what they needed, changing things just enough so the average buyer would not really care.

They win a sale because of the price.
They finance in house, like many, for up to six years, I think on a few models, seven years.

You'll trade it before then, for another Hyundai because no other car dealer will give you shit for them.
But you go back to them and all they'll do Is try and twist your arm for a little bit bigger payment.

Ok, My Insane rant is over, Hey you didn't have to read it.

Hyundai,
Competition for Ford.
That Is sum funny shit right there.
