Hi all! Long time lurker here who has appreciated the information this community provides to all.

My situation: Ordered a MY23 on Sept 15 22. That was rolled over in July 23 to a MY23 or MY24. Current status is MY24 is shipped.

I remember (maybe incorrectly) many had issues with redeeming the private offer on the 22 to 23 rollovers.

I do have the certificate number provided by Ford CS but wondering if anyone has had any issues redeeming this year at the dealership. Or advice if the dealer states "can't find it" etc?

Before you go to the dealership ... contact the dealer (in writing) - provide them with your "Certificate Number" and ask them to e-mail you "an itemized copy" of the Out-The-Door (OTD) final bill of sale. This document should include a listed price deduction (based on the amount on your certificate number) along with taxes, dealer fees, and any other fees. You should not need a special reason to request an advanced "Bill-of-Sale" but if you need one ..., tell the dealer your insurance company requires that you provide one and you're exploring finance options.

Probably the best source for accurate up to date info would be to tag members Tim (fordvideoguy) and Kevincuraoi they are both fantastic and work at dealerships that have always been helpful to forum members

Thank you Mav and OFG! I have watched so many hours of Tim's videos and livestreams! That is exactly the reason I remember last years private offer drama (dealers "can't find" or "that's not a thing").

I don't think I have time for a written communication route (or I am lazy). Ford customer service did give me certificate code and I was a 3 priority on the rollover so I'm pretty sure the covp was adhered to for both years.

Hopefully this dealer is on the up and up.

Seems like the advice is let them know you know before the vehicle is delivered to the dealership.

Long story short - the private offer $$$ goes to the dealer and the dealer can give the customer any amount the dealer wants. Ford Customer Service and Sarah at Long McArthur both confirmed this. I posted my bad expierence in another post where the dealer tried to screw me out of $600 with the following excuses: "The system [Smart Vincent] will only let us apply $1900", "We had this problem with other customers" and my favorite " Ford changed the program". Of course when I asked to see the correspondence from Ford, the dealer claimed it was "confidential". It took a lot of drama but 3 days later the idiots issued a check to mefor the $600.

This is great advice if I ever order again I will do this for sure. This makes them give you out the door and you can question them before the vehicle even arrives. I like the way you think.

My24 Lariat (23 rollover) should be here in the next week or so. I went to my dealer and asked for a break down of the final cost so I can get my finances together. He said they will be applying the $2500 Private Offer, but it is taxable. Looking at the breakdown, it looks like I will be taxed on the full '24 price, then the $2500 deducted. I'm in Wisconsin (5% means another $125 ). He said that Private Offer is like a department store rebate. Guess that's how it work. Just an FYI

Depends on the type of private offer- if it's a price adjustment, yes. My dealer told me legally the dealership cannot keep any "Rebate".

I think that there is some confusion over price protection and this MY transition rebate.

For the rebate, the dealer is required by Ford to disclose the amount (as shown on smart vincent), and have the customer sign whether the rebate is paid to the dealer, or directly to the customer by Ford (in a check a few weeks after the sale date).

For actual "price protection" (which does not go across model years), then it is up to the dealer how that is handled. They can give some or none to the customer.

If you want me to check what info shows up on smart vincent for your private offer, I can do that for you. Just message me w/ your details (the private offer is connected to your address, not your VIN).

How does the private offer work? Do they take the amount off the MSRP or issue you a refund after the purchased?

My disgusting experience is specifically related to Ford Program #32168 titled "23MY to 24MY Maverick Retail Transition Private Offer". "Private offer value predetermined by customer's original 23MY retail COVP verified order. 24MY Order Number and Customer Name must match 23MY Order"

The above is followeded by a matrix/chart showing the dollar value of a private offer for the three trim levels with 2.0L GAS and 2.5L Hybrid respectively.

Ford issued a "Certificate Number" unique to my order. This appeared once my 24MY was in production and there was a VIN showing. At the time my VIN was revealed to me I called Ford Customer Service to get my certificate number for my records. The certificate number showed at the dealer in Smart Vincent.

On the afternoon I went to pick up my 24 Mav Lariat hybrid, I emailed my sales person prior to my arrival, asking to give me a breakdown showing the DMV processing fee, sales tax, registration fee and credit for my transaction. That email showed my expected credit under program #32168 of $2500. At the one yard line sitting across the desk, my salesman disappeared for 15 minutes and then told me they could only apply $1900 to my transaction, not $2500. Over the next 20 minutes as I protested, they gave 3 different excuses cuminating with the whopper "Ford changed the program" and the refusal to show me the communication from Ford that said that because it was "confidential internal communication".

Side note: There is a different program for unfilled 22MY orders that transitioned to 24MY.

RE: How does the private offer work: It may depend on your state. Here in California the selling price of the vehicle and all related costs such as DMV processing fee [$85], sales tax, registration and license fees are all added together. The $2500 was subtracted from the grand total, the bottom line. I paid sales tax on the full selling price of the vehicle. From what I can tell, the way an incentive is applied on the paperwork varies by state.

Lots of great info here and thank you everyone for sharing. @KevCuRaoi I sent you a dm re lookup info (thank you!)

It seems the experience has varied, expectations are not always met {set?), and there can be more discretion at the dealer level than from Ford on how these programs are applied to customers' orders.

I was hoping things would be a little more buttoned up for this year's rollovers. We shall see?

You are right, the rebate amount is tied to the unscheduled 23 Maverick that was ordered.

This is from program 32168 about the rebate amounts based on 23 Mav ordered:
- Eligible customers that ordered a 23MY Maverick 2.5L Hybrid XL/Lariat: $2,500
- Eligible customers that ordered a 23MY Maverick 2.5L Hybrid XLT: $3,400
- Eligible customers that ordered a 23MY Maverick 2.0L EcoBoost Gas XL/Lariat: $1,000
- Eligible customers that ordered a 23MY Maverick 2.0L EcoBoost Gas XLT: $1,900

So both your 23 and your 24 were both Hybrid Lariats?

It's unlikely there was a glitch in smart vincent. When you look up one of these programs for a customer, the amount is specified and can't be changed by the dealer. It is all automatic.

Was your 23 always a hybrid Lariat? No changing trim levels/engine at some point in the process? The only thought that I have, is that if you had a Gas XLT COVP'd, but then changed to a hybrid Lariat, maybe the rebate amount is tied to the COVP'd order?? (I know this is unlikely given the short ordering window...but that's the only explanation for a mismatch I can think of).
