I just recently started getting front end vibration under acceleration on my 2024 Hybrid Maverick. Truck has 35800 miles on it and the soonest the local dealer can even look at it is Nov 11th and no loaners available till the 17th. Should I basically park it till then to avoid going out of the 36k warranty?

It will be rough not having the truck to drive for almost 2-3 weeks and I might have to get a rental vehicle, which would not be cheap either.

The truck is completely stock.

Drive it to the dealer now and leave it there. Tell them it’s not drivable in your opinion.
Make sure they log/record the odometer.

Make sure they check your CV/axles. They are a known issue. Worse when you accelerate?

Have them write your RO and document the miles now. As long as they keep the ro open, you should be good.
Also, it should give them the incentive to make sure they have the parts available when they start working on it.

I had a similar issue with my 24 and drove it to the dealer. They are very familiar with the issue and told me that they had several employees that experienced the same problem. Ford has informed them is an issue that they are working on. They ordered a replacement axle don’t recall if was the left or right but it was delivered in 3 days. It took them a half day to get it fixed and back to me. They informed me that it is now warrantied for an extended time because of the issue and required replacement. Fortunately I have a dealer that believes in service after the sale.

Unfortunately I have the same exact issue. 🥲

I dropped by the dealership and they were able to get me in next day. I guess something to be said for pleading your case (politely) in person.

Also yep it was the axles. They are being replaced under warranty today or tomorrow.

The person I talked to from the ford dealership was pushing a fuel service for direct injection engines. He said Ford was recommending this service every 20k miles. Have any of you heard of that?

I thought the hybrid Atkinson engine was direct and port injection, so I don't know if its really a concern in my case?

Well this has not turned out as simply as I would have liked.

I got the truck back after the front axles were replaced and immediately noticed a strange humming sound when the hybrid regen/braking kicks in, which was not there before. Its most obvious at highway speeds (60-70mph).

Took it to the dealership. They have had the vehicle for a week now and have admitted they are having a hard time finding the issue. Now they are strongly suggesting its because of strange wear patterns on my tires even though this issue did not exist before the axle replacement. sent me a link to their overpriced tires...

I tried to see if they would replace the tires under warranty, because the strange wear patterns are probably because of the failing axle. No luck there. Starting to feel like they are just trying to sell me a new set of tires.

Should I escalate this to Ford corporate?

2.5 is MPFI, no DFI at all.
the 25MY EB is both now.
So that service is a waste of money. At most run your own FI cleaner thru a tank, that's all it would be.

They are aware you heard nothing prior to their work?
Of course, sadly customer perception can't always be trusted.

So at highway speeds, you go to coasting and hear the humming?

Try different Drive modes to see if still there at same level - Slippery has the least regen, Eco has the most.
Compare the hum between coasting on those 2.

Should be the same if axle/tire related.

See if you can find a safe back road for comparing 45 mph coast down - maybe almost to a stop.
See if that hum compares are there at slower speed and when they seem to stop.

To continue where I left off:

  • Nov 10th the dealership tech heard the strange front end sound and acknowledged it was not normal.
  • Nov 17th the dealership put a different set of tires on the vehicle and verified the tires were not the issue.
  • Nov 29th they claim that their earlier assumption that it was not normal was because they compared it to a new 2025 maverick. They got a 2024 in with similar mileage and its producing the same sound as my 2024 Hybrid Maverick. So they are now telling me this is normal operating sound!
  • Dec 2nd I push back (stating the other 2024 likely has the same problem mine does) and they said they will reach out to ford engineering... which they never do.
  • Dec 5th they demand I bring the loaner back and get my truck as is.
All of this is in text msgs from the ford service rep at the dealership, so its on record.

I'm not sure what to do at this point... Is the ford rep still active on these forums?
