Well, my understanding its "mostly" in the programming.
To 'Skip' 2nd (?) gear.
I think this trick has been used on the Euro Focus ST auto by what I've put together.
But I think its otherwise the same 8 speed with programming to skip.
Which makes sense from a cost perspective, they are just repurposing parts from other models to keep the Lobo as cheap as possible, according to the the Maverick model.
There was a link on MTC to a young lady that reviews cars on you tube. In the video she goes through all the differences related to the LOBO. If I remember correctly, the trans has a different part number. Second gear is removed and the unit has a different final drive ratio.
I'll have to find the video to verify my statement, but I think it's correct.

So does the 25 manual for Slippery mode make it sound like the AWD's are getting differences in the AWD usage too - which I'd imagine could actually effect MPG negatively?
FWD vehicles probably no big whoop.

SLIPPERY

Ford Maverick 2024 2.0L in Eco Mode observation {filename}
This mode lowers accelerator pedal responsiveness, adjusts transmission shift points, and optimizes traction and stability controls to help mitigate wheel spin and maintain vehicle control in slick driving conditions.
Depending on your vehicle’s options, this feature adjusts all-wheel drive control to provide optimum traction for slippery surfaces.
Use this mode for less than ideal road conditions such as snow and ice covered roads or for firm surfaces that are covered with loose or slippery materials.

I think you're talking about Sarah n Tuned. It was a good review.

And I don't doubt there is more to it, and that a separate PN is used.
I mostly meant from the capability and torque-holding ability, its mostly the same trans with out a gear, and retuned trans.
I missed, or didn't catch the change in final drive ratio.

Sarah's video, cut to the Trans discussion.

I use ECO mode daily on my commute because it allows the cruise control to drop a mph or two when going uphill and then getting back to speed gradually rather than downshifting in an attempt to maintain exactly 80mph........um I mean 70mph.

Thanks for posting the link. She really has provided an in depth review including information not found else where.
