2024 2.0L in Eco Mode observation

New observation at 6300 miles just noticed because I just don’t use Eco mode.

Going down the highway at 65 mph and checked again at 30 mph and at a dead stop.
On a hot day with my A/C freezing me out, (Love this A/C btw), while I’m blasting full fan speed and set cold as ell.
When I set to Eco mode the A/C fan speed drops from my high setting to the next lower fan speed on my dual zone auto A/C.

Not a problem just an observation.

When I tried Eco mode the shift points were sooner than I'd like. I normally drive with a light foot, so Eco is seems redundant. Almost always in normal mode. I would have rather seen the capability to select a gear instead of the drive modes.

Only time I use ECO mode is when I'm making drives over 40 miles..And I do get better mpg...

I don’t want to derail the thread - but Ford has had their “Select Shift” since 2011 and is available on all their trucks…except Maverick. This year it did trickle down to the Lobo - was not aware that the Lariat & Tremor had them too. But all models should have the select shift imo.

Same observation with my Avalon Hybrid. I don't use Eco mode because it attenuates A/C and heat and makes it uncomfortable in hot or cold weather and makes the drive too sluggish. MPG and comfort is fine in Normal mode.

I like how eco mode improves the mpg, but the lack of response from the throttle really is a turn off.

I know, I had a '98 Dodge Stratus that could shift the automatic manually.
'92 Escort had an overdrive toggle so that one could shift third to fourth manually.

Yep, i read that in the manual I think, for my 2025. And noticed it first drive home. its actually fine, because, like you said, the AC works quite well.

Absolutely. It requires more input to make a change. Like the opposite of the spectrum to 'Sport'.
Ice/slippery mode is even further exaggerated than Eco, and may be even more eco..???

I also use my Eco for longer distances.

In town I prefer Sport - less throttle input, BIG TPS% changes quickly. Scoots around so quick from stops or through turns/roundabouts.

I found ECO useless on a long drive because you are in 8th gear anyway.

Depends on the terrain you drive in I suppose. Mine does not stay in 8th gear in the Rockies at elevation.
Likewise, I don't find myself in bumper-bumper gridlocks here either, but it sounds like it would make sense there.

'How the person drives' is likely the biggest variable in the end, and where most of the gains can be made anyway.

Well, my understanding its "mostly" in the programming.
To 'Skip' 2nd (?) gear.
I think this trick has been used on the Euro Focus ST auto by what I've put together.
But I think its otherwise the same 8 speed with programming to skip.
Which makes sense from a cost perspective, they are just repurposing parts from other models to keep the Lobo as cheap as possible, according to the the Maverick model.
