When I inquired about my 2022 Hybrid Maverick being converted to a 2023, the dealer said that my order will be produced as a 2022. I just got the email notification about it being produced, should I opt for the 2022 or go for a 2023. I have also put in a 2023 order at a different dealer since my dealer wasnt giving much info and i lost faith when i asked about my 2022 order.
  • Options on both are the same - XLT Copilot and Lux; except that those packages have now been slightly altered in 2023
    • You get less in the 2023 since some items in the packages are not stand along options, but i guess the price is slightly less too.
    • (I didnt do the math for value)
  • I've added the black out package to the 2023
  • I know there were 3 recalls for 2022 - gas tank, air bag, engine fire
    • the only one I am concerned about the engine fire were the remedy I hear is the delaler cutting hold in the cover under the engine and cutting the shutter behind the grills.
which would you opt for, time isnt a factor for me; I dont mind waiting.
I'd also assume both dealers will have similar ADM's, which would be a financial decision then but assume both will be the same.

IDK maybe ford will correct all the recalls in the new builds so dealer wont need to?

I honestly wouldn't back out on the MY22. It's a bird in the hand. If the MY23 gets fully confirmed AND approved, you've got some choices. If the MY23 doesn't get confirmed AND approved, you're out of luck unless you stay on track for the MY22. Once you get the MY22, then you can decide if you want to cancel the MY23 and keep the MY22 or flip the MY22 and keep the MY23.

Considering the root cause is 'needs more engine compartment airflow' I'd imagine a redesign (if any) is going to amount to about the same. Some always open area so the AGS isn't completely blocking air and larger/differently placed holes in the underbody shield.

In theory the 2022 should already have this done by the factory, but no one has actually documented what a recent production Hybrid with the recall remediation looks like.

I mean, there aren't any major differences between MY22 and MY23 besides the Tremor package, paint options, and other cosmetic things, so I'd just hold onto your 22.

Which is what I did. I contacted my dealer right before the 9/15 order banks and found out I had a build date (which Ford didn't email me about until today)

I received the email confirming my 2023 order shortly after I placed it earlier this week. Not sure I want to deal with flipping, I don't have time or patience to do that but guess that's an option. Depending on how much i buy it for the margin may be minimal tho.. thats where the financial decision comes in to buy it in the first place or walk.

Very true and hopefully some news confirming this comes out about this before my 22 arrives.

At least for now, hybrids are built with the modifications in place. That means that the AGS vanes are missing from the factory, and the new holes in the aero cover are made on the same equipment that made the original set of holes. Not drilled in later. My Escape Hybrid came that way, built last month.

Don't expect them to make any changes beyond that any time soon...

I would buy the MY22 and, if the market is right for resale and interest rates haven't gone much further thru the roof, sell my MY22 at enough of a profit to buy the MY23 and keep the same payment.

My MY22 is in production now and I have a MY23 rolled over at another dealer. The MY22 will get Ford's 1.9% rate for 60 months. I won't see any better rates than 3.5% thru my credit union for the MY23. If I flip the one for the other I have to see a substantial profit, otherwise I let my dealer have it. He's been good to me thru this whole process.

No, I opted not to bother since my MY22 order is getting built and if I ordered a 23... I'd end up configuring it the exact same way in the end.

Assuming you ordered a Hybrid for both, take your 22 and be happy. Prices are higher for 2023, and odds are most hybrids ordered aren’t built - let alone the ones with Lux & 360. If I had the option to cancel my 2023 order for your 22 Hybrid, I’d take it in a heartbeat and I bet the vast majority would do the same.
