You're less tempted to sell for a huge profit because you'll have to pay taxes on it?

I sold my XL for $34,500. Even after taxes, fees, and everything I made about $8,200.
That is correct. When you find out 1/3 of your profit will be taken from you, it does make it less tempting.

Also, as previously mentioned in this thread, I have a Lexus that I can also sell for good money. To the point where I drove it for 4 years for free. The Maverick also gets almost triple the gas mileage and has better utility. There was a reason I ordered this vehicle in the first place, and it actually wasn't to flip. So lots to consider.

Trying to sell here to people who have orders at msrp is not the right audience.
@bkowa092 Actually thanks for posting here. Most of us with 23 orders don't know how long we'll be waiting and I'm sure some of us would prefer to pay a small premium to avoid that altogether if all the other details work out.

Absolutely! If I do end up putting it on Auto Trader, I will be listing it for more than 34k. Just figured I'd put this up to see if there is any interest while I'm waiting for the title to arrive in the mail.

pay a small premium
Define small. This is a $10k markup (or in that ballpark).

No offense to the OP. If I were him, I'd make sure I got the most for it that I could.

It's a $7,800 markup over MSRP.

I think he may mean small compared to what others are asking for these. I'll be completely transparent here, at this price I will be making $5,500 before I get hit with capital gains tax. I have a standing offer of $33,500 from a dealership, so obviously they know that they can get quite a bit more.

Yeah, for comparisons sake I'll be the same:

My 2022 XL was $22,575 MSRP + $299.95 dealer fee + $1,550ish for GA taxes = $24,425

I auctioned it via Carmigo. Reserve was $36,500 (their suggestion) but high bid was just $34,500. I accepted. Their fee was $300 to handle all the paperwork and that included picking it up from my driveway.

$34,500 -$300 - $24,425 = $9,775 profit

The capital gains tax should be $2500ish.

$9,775 - $2,500 = $7,275.

Now I kept the truck 1 month and drove 2,000 miles. I got to experience the Maverick and still make about $7300 after everything.

Thanks for sharing. Seems like you did pretty darn well! And I'm looking at it the same way, make some profit but also be able to drive the thing and enjoy the vehicle, and gas mileage, in the meantime.

There are bogus cashier checks out there. Does your bank have a way to verify the check is legit before you sign over the truck?

Which one of us are you talking to? If it was me, the funds were ACH deposited. The people there to pick up the Maverick from my driveway would not leave until I verified the money was in my account.

Yes, my bank can verify on the spot. My bank and notary are both on the same street. Myself and the buyer always go to the bank first and do the deal there before heading to the notary.
