Drove Ford Mav about 3/4 mile and went into store. Came out of store, was pulling back on to main road and vehicle started rapidly beeping. A warning(red triangle with exclamation) appeared below the tachometer and a message screen came on advising me to pull off to the side of the road as soon as it was safe to do so. After pulling over, the message disappeared but the alert triangle was still on. My destination was just around the corner, so I pulled out again and started to drive towards it, but the power to the vehicle was not there and I could not accelerate past 40kmh. The dashboard read that the vehicle was using "All Electricity" and it seemed like it wouldn't switch over to gas powered. When I pulled into the driveway, I turned the vehicle off and restarted it. At that point, it seemed like every light on the dash lit up simultaneously. The steering wheel locked and the gear shift would not move out of park. I turned the vehicle off again. After a half hour, I tried the vehicle again and everything was normal. I brought it to the dealership immediately and it seemed to drive normal again. The mechanic cleared all codes and reset the PCM and said they could find nothing wrong with it and that the computer system had not logged any error issues or problems. Note: It has been -16C with the wind chill the past four or five days. Does this affect the Hybrid in how the vehicle runs ( dash lights, warning lights, etc.). Ford dealership has not seen this problem before and I am trying to find out if someone else has.

Gremlins.
Did you get any recalls done yet?
Sorry you are disturbed, I had battery issues since purchase if I don't drive often enough.
Good luck

Shouldn't. I was driving mine when it was -15°C (before windchill), no issues related to it being cold and this is the second winter.

Just guessing, but it sounds like the parking brake didn't release, and was still dragging? Maybe the cold weather had something to do with it.

Not your topic, but I am curious... do you use an engine block heater? I just got a 24 Hybrid, southern Minnesota (not quite as cold, but we get some cold days), and whoever ordered and canceled the one I found at a dealership did not get a block heater factory installed. Wondering if I should look into that... heard it might improve my mpg on -25 C days. Overall I am loving the hybrid maverick so far. Much better traction than my Prius even with the stock tires.

On my 23' hybird I've received several battery save notices, one recently with our colder weather (-12 F). Never not started but my daily commute is short, three miles one way. I do think the hybird needs to be driven more than that on a somewhat regular basis to avoid that warning.

I do let mine warm up for five minutes or so when its that cold and I also make use of the factory block heater. I guess what I'm saying are all your trips a mile or so here or there? First thing I would suspect would be a poor battery, too many short trips or perhaps your battery isn't getting enough of a charge from the inverter.

EDIT... Could be the bad harness or connection under the fuse box that some early models are known for. Dunno.

I make use of mine and I'm from Minnesota as well. The only benefit I see are easier starting, faster warmup and if it isn't bitterly cold you can leave on electric power right away, depending on the temperature or if your calling for heat in the cabin.
