So last Tuesday @ 0800 I dropped off the truck for two recalls (airbag, wire harness) as per dealers request. They said parts were in and they needed to get them done before end of month. Today it's Tuesday 1st Aug @ 1030 and still no truck no phone call for four days. So how long does it take????? No impact, no idea. Gotta love it:)

They had mine for a week and gave me a nice Edge to drive. Nice but not a Maverick.

Call Ford’s customer service department and complain. They’ll call the dealer and get things moving with the service manager.

Gonna have to call them and ask what the progress is. People do report them having to take a couple days to a week to fix this.

Yea, I talked to him and no joy. Also met with GM (new guy), nice but not from round here. Good conversation tho. I told him Bedford VA is small town (3000+-). We're like a fish bowl, we all kinda swim around together and being the new guy here the last thing he should do is poop in the water. We'll all smell it and it wont be good for him or the dealership. We'll see how it all works out I guess.

If they finally get around to it, carefully inspect the truck when you get it back. One issue has been soiled and/or ill-fitting headliner from the mechanics that replaced the airbag system. Also check all electrical things to make sure they still work.

Each of those can be done in a day. They probably didn’t have the clips for the harness.

Was there a time limit for dealers to complete the recall work? Strange the dealer would say they have the parts and need to complete by eom, then not get the work done on time. Looks like the fish bowl is getting a little darker.

Recalls do not have a time limit to be completed. You can purchase a vehicle used years after the recall was issued and if it isn't done, they will do it. Recalls are issued under safety regulations/direction by governments. Customer satisfaction programs and technical service bulletins can have expiration dates, but they are typically protracted as well. 1,000% not an "end of the month" situation.

In terms of time to repair? My truck has never been down more than 8-10 hours. The local Ford service will pick it up in the morning for service and deliver it back when done. As an early hybrid owner, it has had a few TSBs, recalls, CSP, and warranty claims. Absolutely painless.

I feel bad for all the people with service center horror stories I see on here.

Yesterday (8/1) I called dealer who said parts must be ordered but penciled me in for 8/23. I'm still driving my truck until then

I took my Maverick in for the airbag recall and it sat in the dealership ALL DAY without being worked on. Went to pick it up after work and they told me they "couldn't get to it." Got my truck back and it reeked of sweaty, oily mechanics. After some back and forth and not being able to get a loaner car from Ford, they came and picked it up at my job and delivered it back to me on a flatbed tow truck. Not sure if they did this because I kinda mentioned the possibility of being interested in buying a Ranger, but at least stuff got done.

And nah, changed my mind on the purchase. Decided that I'll pay off my Maverick within the next year or two and then make some decisions, or just wait and see how long the Maverick actually goes until it needs to be put out to pasture. I generally drive my cars about 10 years.

I took mine in for the air bags and replacement of the sunglasses holder, lost the clip, and I dropped it off on a Monday evening and had it today evening.

Great service. From reading the stories here i expected to be at least 5 days. The inside did smell of oil and someone needing deodorant.

Update: Took 8 days. Had dirt, grease, hand prints (greasy), panels not attached, headliner sticking out, seat belt trapped under side panel........ just the usual stuff. All this hassle over a couple millimeters in the airbag length. Like I said, Gotta love it:)
