Did my 1st oil change on the Tremor today. Had 2655mi on it the oil looked perfectly normal draining out no alien blood here like some others have reported. The skid plate is heavy probably between 30 and 40 pounds. I dodged a bullet with the filter I don't know if someone dropped it in the factory or what but it doesn't look bad in the picture but it was a deep gouge I'm surprised it didn't leak. Also the oil filter will drip on the plastic lower bumper trim the picture is taken looking straight up from under the filter. Skid plate has 6 13mm bolts to the frame and 4 t30 torx screws to the lower bumper.

What is with the padding? Think its just for noise? I cant imagine why it would be there for heat its just a metal plate.

Glad you got lucky on that filter.

I was thinking it has to be for noise no way that thing makes enough heat to effect that steel plate. I wonder if the FX4 skid plate has the same padding on it.

If thats the case thats a bit of weight I can get rid of. Im not one of those people who will have any complaints about motor noise. The louder it is the more I can keep track of what is going on.

I have been waiting for some one to do this and post. I was afraid the oil filter would drip on the plastic lower bumper and now I know it does.

Thank you for the photos, I will be doing my first oil change soon.

I just got some 2 inch painters tape and about 12 inches of aluminum foil folded it in half and taped it to the inside of the lower bumper trim right under the filter.

Oil change on the 2.3 in the bronco was ridiculous. Ford legit installed a plastic valley that the filter oil travels down and out of. Ridiculous!

Aluminum foil is your friend. Diverts oil where you want and prevent it from getting where you don’t.
