Sorry to make another thread, but this should be worth it.

Did some modifications to QuickRik tonight, just for shits and giggles, and data, because you gotta have data..... I'll add more info on my build thread, project QuickRik.

Ran about 5 passes. First was 13.57@100mph, then 15.2@100mph, then 13.37@102mph! Next two were 13.46 and 13.45, both at 101mph.

Extra modifications include removal of the entire Cat-back, and the passenger and rear seats. I know, I know, it's not permanent, but it did shave almost .4 seconds off of my times last night! Also, got a 4.95 0-60!

Hey I took the bed and rear captain chairs out out of my shaggin wagon when I was 16 so I could break into the teens. 84 Extended E150 w/302 ran 18.86 with stuff removed . I dont remember the fully loaded run but it was over 20.

Dont forget to drop the spare.

Low 13s these Mavericks are hot!

Yep, already had the spare removed, probably should have stated that.

So, removing the Cat-back really didn't do to much! I pur it back on, and this morning still managed a 13.41@101mph! So the roughly 130lbs helped quite a bit!

13.37? Good Lord man that's awesome!
I ordered a 93 and 87 tune from 5 star yesterday :) Since BCB isn't tuning I figured I'd get rid of this adaptive tune and go with them. I'm pretty excited. May not be a huge difference, but I'm sure the 93 performance/street tune will outrun it. Ran a 5.53 today in a -20 DA with the adaptive tune. What kind of intake do you have? Any idea what yours weighs with you in it? I'm at 4040lbs.

very nice on the 5.53!

Intake is a homemade 3" short tube and cone filter, probably does next to nothing. Full weight I'm probably 3970 give or take the weight of gas?

I haven't weighed it, but Ford claims 3790ish, and weigh 170-175.

Crazy that you're .3 faster even before weight reduction. My fastest is 13.9X. My tires are 6lbs heavier per corner. I only lost .15 to 60 with them. Maybe the 5star tune will help.

I'ma ask what may be a really dumb question.

If speed is what matters to you, why buy a 4 cylinder little truck?

It's not important to me. I bought it for good gas mpg's, to haul my boat, kids and deer. The speed is an added bonus. It's fun making it quicker than it was. I had a mid 13 second Nissan Titan that would haul 10,000 lbs and run sub 5 second 0-60s. It's not for everyone, but that's the beauty of it. You don't have to make my truck payment.

If you ask this question, I don't think you will agree with my reasoning.

I modify all of my vehicles. The Maverick is the most practical vehicle to enter the scene since the CRV came out in 97. I can tow my project car, if I ever have the need, use it for projects, and have a 30mpg daily.

Having a Maverick is cool, they are awesome vehicles. Having a 12 second econobox that makes people say WTF?!?! is a side benefit I really enjoy! ( I know I'm not there yet, but I will be!)

Heavy tires can be partly to blame. Some of the issues could be related to the unpredictability of the tuning within the stock ecu. I've done back-to-back runs that have changed by 4mph. That's dramatic. Others have had many issues on the dyno with inconsistancy, it seems to just be another hurdle to deal with. I couldn't tell you for certain any of the reasons, I just can't wait to see the competitive nature take over and watch these progress!

13.37 is the number the quickest bone stock supercharged 5.4 Lightning ran in 2000. And that was in really good air. Congrats, that's moving for a Maverick.

I get it. Having a stock sealed engine Mustang that makes 1,000hp is cool too. As fun as it is, there's always someone quicker. Mid 9's in a 5.0 is just not as impressive today as it it used to be. But I still love it, as it's PLENTY fast for the street.

kind of a sleeper. It's fun to jump out ahead of the V8 behemoths at the stop light & then using less than half the fuel to continue down the highway. We really didn't buy them for speed, it's just a pleasant bonus.
