I have a Garmin GPS that I really like. The problem is that in my new XLT Hybrid Maverick the 12v "cigarette lighter" socket appears to be hot or on all the time. My Garmin does not automatically power down when the key is removed. And I forget to unplug it each time. Has anyone modified their 12v socket to be active with the ignition only?

I've thought about adding a 12v socket in the glove box to run power down to the fuse box and just run my GPS wire to inside the glove box.

Any other thought would be appreciated.

For like 30 minutes or maybe a dealer can change the timer.

Did you check in the morning?

Interesting,In my 23 ecoboost the 12v socket is only powered when the key is turned on to accessory or the truck is running.

I just added a voltmeter to my hybrid Lariat 12 volt socket and it goes dark after some time. Pretty sure it powers down, though be it delayed.

On my previous 2022 Maverick Hybrid and my current 2023 Maverick Hybrid the 12 Volt Socket is NOT HOT All the Time.

With the Hybrid turned off and the key removed on the 2022 it powered off as soon as the driver door opened. On the 2023 it powers off in a short time after I exit.

I have this Battery Voltage/Temperature Gauge plugged into the Socket so I can tell that it does shut off.

It is not hot all the time. We had to install a dedicated 12v port for our brake system in the toad vehicle.

Do you know if the change is done with forscan or somewhere in settings?
I would like mine to go off when I turn off the ignition.

Test it.

Try opening and shutting the driver's door after the key is removed.

Try locking the truck with one key fob press, then 2 presses, to see if that cancels the timer.

If not, watch a device, Garmin or other with some sort of light, and measure the time it takes to shut off.

I don't have a copy of Forscan, but I have heard it can adjust things like this.

Good to know. I was looking for exactly the same reason.
